The guy is a legend, totally love 'What's going on', never seen a fretboard played so brilliantly by anyone since. Wouldn't have minded seeing the Who and Mountain at Woodstock either..
I saw the Beatles at the Cavern before they were famous, what an Atmosphere and the Music was pure Rock'n'Roll.
Nice one, I would have loved to have seen Elvis pre Tom Parker, or the Monteray Festival when the West Coast groups broke onto the scene, I would also have liked to have seen Bob Dylan early 60,s.
nice one mate, Saw Morcambe & Wise on Blackpool North Pier in 66 as a 9 year old, wondered why everyone was laughing but realised later when puberty kicked in along with the tash..
I saw Chubby Brown on the South Pier donkeys years ago. He was good but not as good as the old master, Ken Dodd. Saw him at Whitley Bay Playhouse, he had the audience in the palm of his hand and not one swear word all night. He reckons he was the inventor of self-assessment
Saw Ken Dodd as well at Blackpool as a kid, was around the time of the suppose moon landing, Neil Armstrong and all that ****e. I remember a joke he cracked that night whilst holding and shaking a feather duster, it went something like this, 'Everbody seems to be talking about these moon landings, had a couple of kids banging outside my front door the other night pretending to be astronauts, I opened the door and shouted, hey you two, blast off will you".. Best I ever saw as far as comedians go was Les Dawson in Brid 1981, now he was very very funny..
I was at this, and i would have hated to miss it : would love to have seen queen live. rio or wembley
Queen at Live Aid were immense. Freddie was one of the greatest entertainers ever, he sure knew how to work the crowd. It's 23 years since he died. Tempus fugit.
I have been to a canny few stadium gigs that I have enjoyed, although I must confess that I prefer the more intimate performances that I have saw in theatres, clubs and pubs..
Saw AC/DC 2 nights running at the Mayfair in Newcastle, with Bonn Scott singing. We were right at the front both nights and on the second night Bonn recognised us and came over and sat on my shoulders as he sang.Excellent night. Also saw Alex Harvey at the city hall in 1973,and got invited to the back stage party after catching a polystyrene brick from a wall on stage - could'nt go though since I was only 12 at the time!!
Yeh, totally agree RAW. Can't beat live music, literally in the raw, just inches, feet from your face. I remember walking into the Tufnell Park Tavern in the late 80s, walking up to the bar, getting a beer, turning around and Acker Bilk had turned up. Wasn't a fan of jazz, but was mesmerised. I'm pretty sure I saw Richie Sambora with a guitar, on his own in Covent Garden, late 80's / early 90's. But the mind plays tricks.
Ian Dury & the Blockheads ........ missed him a couple of times and thought, 'I'll catch him next time'
Me step father saw the Beatles at the Empire. that'd've been canny. The Who Live at Leeds for me. Got tickets for later this year but no Moonie or the Ox so......... I've been lucky enough to see most other bands I've wanted to though.
I always remember a workmate of my went to watch Thin Lizzy at the Empire and caught his missus in a full-on clinch with Phil Lynott <the boys sure are back in town>
Just the kind of act I like to see ....... no massive lighting rigs, acrobats or fireworks, just a bunch of blokes good at their jobs.
Absolutely, mate. I can still remember Rhythm Stick reaching number one as if it was yesterday. I love 'What a Waste' as well and a good few others.
