Just had dinner with a colleague. We work with the EPL a lot. Turns out he was offered a Saints director role at the end of last season, turned it down, but informed me that despite newspaper rumours KL is, and has been since the beginning of last season, looking to sell the club. I don't know how his will affect us going forward, but watch this space. I trust this information implicitly. You don't have to, but thought I would share with people that would like to know.
Would be odd to hire a Manager of Koeman's stature and spend £60 million plus this Summer, when the new owners may want a different manager/boardroom etc i.e Leeds. If someone came in with a good offer I'm sure Katharina would consider it.
don't think there's much of a market really, everton and villa have seemingly been up for sale for aeons without a hint of interest
Yep, no need for dramatic for sale threads, things change in football very quickly. Lets just be happy that KL has helped get us back on the right path with Ron & the newbies.
Turns out he was offered a Saints director role at the end of last season, turned it down ___________________________ Not just a simple ITK, but nearly a director......must be true then.
Something isn't adding up here at all.......Because Cortese had buyers for Saints and his buyer was turned away with out any negotiations. It wasn't because of Cortese's involvement that I do know.......As Cortese wasn't going to be part of the deal....just that there was an opportunity to sell. Also I'm told it was Her decision alone.......
There is a huge difference between trying to sell a business to someone who has the skills and resources to build it up and help it flourish, and trying to sell to get shot of it. All that has happened this last summer and the years before tells me that if it is for sale, it's on the former basis rather than the latter. My feeling is that it's not for sale unless she feels someone could do a better job for the club.
If Katherina was as disinterested in Southampton FC as she was painted to be, then by my reckoning she's had an epiphany or something, in the meantime. Because unless she's decided that she wants to sell SFC for a lot more than Dad paid for it, by making it far more valuable, then this is a person who has decided that she'll hang on to this business for a while longer. I agree with CF. She may not be here for the ultra long term, ie it stays in the family come hell or highwater, but I don't think Saints will be being offloaded anytime soon, unless someone offers proper money, and they intend to progress it further. And in that light, almost anything is for sale.
Hmm, could have something to do with who the buyer was, or maybe the opening offer put her off coming to the table. But then my colleague said he found her quite difficult to deal with, my guess is that she wants to find her own buyer, someone she can trust to carry on her fathers legacy. Im told it's not that she has anything against the club, she just doesn't have a sustained interest in football and feels enough time has passed after her fathers passing to move on
Hey now I've been on here a while, don't post all that often but equally haven't previously claimed to be itk. Makes no difference to me what you believe
Not sure.....there was no offer as such......just an offer to enter negotiations for the sale of the club should she wish to do so. Cortèse had been contacted prior to him leaving is my understanding but could not get involved because he was leaving. The buyer was told to contact the club at the end of the season. My understanding was that he (or his agents) did and was turned away. All recent meetings that she attended gave no indication of any selling intentions. There is more...but I have been asked not to pass on or hint....although it has nothing to do with these discussions.
Good job we don't pay stuff like tax and keep our accounts so utterly simple based upon guessing the ins & outs of income & expenditure. Was a time... not so long ago... when Saints fans dreamed of the club being not only debt free, but self financing. The dream is a reality. REJOICE! Throw ribbons in the air! Grab the nearest stranger, kiss them strongly on the lips and cry "oh I am reborn in the love of a Southampton FC healthy balance sheet!!" FFS
