Well I hope Janmaat makes some errors as bad as the one he has just made playing for Netherlands against the Czech Republic. In injury time he tried to cushion a header back to Cillertson but it bounced off the post straight into the path of Pilar who slotted it home to give the Czech a 2-1 win.
I predict the same team as West Ham except: Alderweireld starts in place of Yoshida. Yoshida & Mane on the bench in place of Hooiveld & Ramirez.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...rst_start_on_hold_for_Saints_new_boy/?ref=mac Echo supports the view that Mane will not be available for this game because of his arduous journey back from playing for his country. Also I would suggest that even if he'd only travelled from Poole, it would be a good idea for him to actually meet his team mates before going into the first eleven.
Interesting perspective on the two managers here http://www.magsnews.com/2014/09/managers-southampton-v-newcastle-head-head/
Interesting comparison which begs the question why did we employ him in the first place. Suggested answer: he is a decent manager for League 1. However, thanks for our day in Wembley, Alan. All in all...think we'll keep Ron.
Watching Doctor Who the other night (what?), a Dalek came up with a line which sums up how I feel about this game, "Seek, locate, destroy".
I have always voiced my concerns over Pardew and I was cautious when we appointed him. He was of course a bit of a coup for a league one side at the time, however I have just never taken to him; there's always been something. I find that his ego takes over and although most successful people need an ego to some degree as this helps with the drive, I always felt that his ego took the "look at me" stance rather than the drive to succeed. Just a couple of examples are: 1. the recent statement he made about transfers (I believe) in "what a great job the chairman, the scouts and I have done" This is just unnecessary to add the 'I'. 2. At West Ham, he made his players wear those naff motivational T shirts in the warm up for the play-off final in 2004 that they lost to Palace. 3. IF there is any truth in the rumours as to his advances on a players wife at Southampton The man just can't keep his ego in check and seriously lacks humility.
Can't see any mention of the most important team :- 15:00 Southampton v Newcastle REFEREE :- Chris Foy. Assistants :- H Lennard & M Wilkes. 4th Official :- K Hill.
I know a few Charlton fans and he is rumoured to have upset several players there with his liking for WAGS.
Janmaat's view on the game and Koeman http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...s-janmaat-eager-to-see-off-old-boss-1-6831835
Got to laugh and (at least in my case) agree with each club's fans assessment of Pardew: @ West Ham Fans bombarded the internet with stories about how they were having to watch the ‘worst’ football in living memory. @Charlton there was also a growing discontent with the Athletics style of football with many saying it was the worst they had ever witnessed. @Southampton fans were complaining about the style of football he was playing, low player morale and a string of losses and he was again out of a job. @Newcastle Newcastle fans were also going onto the internet saying it was the worst football they had ever seen. You can't beat consistency. 5-0 please Saints. Just to show we are improving on last season
I don't agree with the Saints one - He was only in charge of 3 games in the new season with 1 Win, 1 Draw and 1 Loss. We went on the losing streak between the sacking and hiring of Adkins. That cannot be blamed on Pardew. On to this game, I'm going for a win to us. I'm confident for the first time this season.
