Another idea would be to have a fixture every Saturday, and Saturday only, with your chosen teams closest league game to that date is the score that gets used. Oh, I'm confused now!

No, it can not possibly work that way due to FA Cup games, International weekend breaks, Uk weather. Everyone will be notified via the thread, which games count and which games do not count Another idea would be to have a fixture every Saturday, and Saturday only, with your chosen teams closest league game to that date is the score that gets used. That is effectively what will happen as not every team plays on a Saturday anyway. I am sure it will become clearer once it's up & running.
