Don't care as much as if he was still a Saints player, but I want him to do well. Good lad...I bear him no ill will for his move.
That was supposed to be the two best teams in group E, utter ****e. Or more accurately in the words of Hodgson "****ing bollocks".
Despite that brief flukey moment during the early stages of the World Cup when International football got good... it's now back to being utter dross again. That Swiss side would struggle in the Championship. Mind you, so would England.
Who cares..? I don't mean that nastily, but I wonder if it's just me, considering Lambert was a Saints hero for me and others, I'm astonished at my own genuine lack of interest. I usually follow every ex-Saints player. There are obviously plenty from the past, but I take genuine pleasure in seeing, for example, how well Dean Hammond plays from Leicester, or Andrew Surman does for Bournemouth, to name just two. Both of those were players were significant for Saints, but not huge, yet I maintain my interest. With Lambert, Twatbeard and Co, I simply could not give a toss. And generally, I'm not a bad loser. I'm actually at a loss to explain it. Sorry. I made a serious point when you were being light. I don't know why Rickie has grown a twatbeard.
As a great man once said, "draw a blue line and move on" . I think that's what we have done, certainly how i feel right now. I thank Rickie for all he did, but sadly he no longer wears the stripes.
It is likely to be the only time that we see Switzerland below San Marino in the qualifying group. It is also great that Estonia play at the A. Le Coq Arena, although not as good as ****dorf.
I do yeah. I mean I still look out for Barnard and Sharp and people others of the same ilk. Like you I no longer care too much about those who left this summer. I had a tour of Wembley Stadium today and I was shocked when i saw Lambert's, Lallana's and Shaw's shirts hanging in the dressing room. Last year I would have been giddy and taken lots and lots of photos with them. Today, I got more excitement from seeing Forsters unnumbered shirt in the corner.
You think Sharp, Hammond etc look out for Saints in the table? Probably too busy swimming in 50$ notes.
Well Deano ran with Franny the other day, and left a message on his Big Run blog, so I would hazard a guess that he still feels some connection. And that's good.
There is a further subtle difference with the players who left this summer. I still have some interest in Walcott, Bale and Oxo...my annoyance at Chamberlain passed quite quickly. I think this was because the odd player leaving didn't destroy us and was perhaps understandable. The ones who left this summer were (at the time) dream destroyers. The fans had all bought into 'the dream' and couldn't believe that the players hadn't....we are unable to imagine that there is anything more wonderful than playing for our rather revolutionary side...their leaving made us seem more ordinary. We had also enjoyed having so many of our boys in the England side and they went and ruined that dream as well. Their presence around the national side will continue to be a burr under the saddle...I wanted to spit when I saw Chambers in the subs. Rickie is just a bit different as I guess he is still the favoured son.
