Bristol Rovers have announced the signing of free agent Angelo Balanta, subject to a medical. The 24-year-old moves to the Memorial Stadium for the remainder of the season after being released by Premiership club Queens Park Rangers. Manager Darrell Clarke said: "I am really pleased to bring Angelo to the club, he is a talented player with a good pedigree. "He can play as a left winger or a striker, and will offer us some creativity in the final third. "He is a player who can unlock defences and help us create the goals we have been lacking." Born in Columbia, Balanta moved to England and progressed through the QPR youth system, before breaking into the first team in 2007. He made his first team debut as a substitute in December 2007, and his first start for the club later the same month. In November 2008, Balanta moved on loan to League Two side Wycombe Wanderers for three months. In June 2010 he moved on loan MK Dons for the entire season, before going back for a further two spells with them. After returning to QPR he moved to Yeovil on loan in March 2013, where he saw out the rest of the 2012/13 season. In July 2014 Balanta was released by QPR after seven years with the club. Tweet from DC: "I went on not606 forum and seen a thread started by Bluebaldee which showed a list of players who were available on a free. This shows I actually do have contacts other than Salisbury FC."
He did. Look what was said about him after rejecting us http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/272304-Winger-Angelo-Balanta
So what DC is saying is that he has contact with the Forum, honest addmission but better scouting network would produce some talent somewhere. Lets hope this lad is here for the right reasons (not just show me the money !!!!!!) and not just because he cant find a bigger club.
Yeah I know, take it on the banter forum, but you got to admit he looks like he's a bit behind in training..
Just been talking to a couple of QPR supporters about him - apparently they thought he was going to be a superstar when he first came through, but hasn't really kicked on. Still, I think at our level could be a proper good signing.
Sorry, this quote from DC is not true, it was a joke between me and bluebaldee. I doubt DC goes on any forums at all. We do though have a director who posts on this forum - Brian Seymour Smith, although he may no longer post if not re-elected as fans director. We also have Geoff Dunford who follows our Not606 twitter page and retweets and comments on a lot of things from our twitter page and I know he has read a few threads in the past where he has tweeted about them. BSS has told me face to face that our forum has been mentioned a couple of times in their boardroom in a positive light we are known high up the chain but doubt DC reads along though. Apologies again.
Blimey he's piled on the pounds since he finished his loan spell with us.He was a good player who made some good runs down the wing and scored a few as well.
Hi CJS, well I look as stupid as some of our players thinking this was for real. Although knowing Rovers nothing would surprise me. That aside lets hope this lad can do job for us, good luck to him.
Looks like he'll need to get fitter too. But hopefully he'll make a difference and provide other options...
