Good Morning Everybody, Steve Clarke has leaped back into pole position as far as the vacant managerial position at Elland Road is concerned. What do the bookies know? To have gone from 6/1 to 10/11 means they must know something!!! Cellino is away in the States at the moment, and not due back til Thursday, but who knows, his plans may change! The press go on about the managerial situation like its a curse!!! Steve Clarke does not have a job at the moment. Worse case Scenario, he gets well paid for doing the job he loves for one of the biggest clubs in the Country!!! Best case scenario, he makes himself into a hero for millions. Adryan, Brian Montenegro and Darian Del Fabro are all set to feature in the U21 game today v Ipswich. I canot wait for them to make an impact in the Championship. The emergency loan window opens this week. How many players do you foresee us signing, and at what positions?
I'm not convinced that the bookies have any idea who'll get the job. The only person that knows is Cellino and he's the only person who knows how his head works!! Personally I feel he's going to keep Redfearn in charge as long as possible as I beleive hes very fond of him and his work with the academy it's also no coincidence that he's the cheapest option!! As for the loan window of rather see us loan out players than bring more in. Be nice to get another LB in just as cover for if anything happens to Warnock. Ive been impressed by him this season to be fair
Morning Grogger, I think we need to keep stability at grass root level and with Carbone, Naylor and Bromby all leaving recently, I don't think Cellino will want to make any more changes at the academy. I've been impressed with Warnock too, however, he does lack pace.
Morning mate That's why I'd like to see a bit of back up for him and LB is always somewhere we could do with strengthening. I want to keep Redfearn at the academy I don't want him as first team coach he's just be another Hockaday I fear due to his lack of experience at this level. Made up he got us the 3pts against Bolton but we were far from convincing or anywhere near a solid starting 11
Warnock is a been there done it kind of defender, the only one we have in truth. Always reliable and gets stuck in, no idea why fans have always been on his back, as far as I'm concerned he had a run of around 4 or 5 games last season where he was a bit poor but nothing compared to the others in the team at the time and other than those games I think he has been completely solid and wouldn't have even been a bad bet for the captaincy. As for his cover, Taylor is there and should be capable by now imo. He has got what it takes as far as everyone who matters is concerned. Past that both Cooper and Pearce can also play there as well as Berardi is known to be able to play both full back roles. I really don't think we need to be rushing out to sign anybody, if we do it should be a defensive midfielder to completely wipe out Austin's chances at the club.
Morning Josh, I was hoping that either Sloth or Adyran would take Austins place, or take Murphys place, and Murphy takes Austins place.
Morning all. Don't believe bookies odds are relevant as i don't believe many would bother putting decent money on betting on a club manager. As I don't gamble though, what do I know. Not so sure Cellino is keeping redfern as a cheap option. He may have cut costs in many areas but certainly has spent money on new signings and must be paying decent wages. He'll surely have realised by now how important a quality coach is at our level and he's not going to get one for 100k a year. Bet you guys must be wetting yourselves with excitement at the thoughts of the Switzerland Engerland game tonight Tell you what's farcical though. Leeds getting a January transfer embargo because basically previous owners allegedly stole money from club and thus posted gigantic losses while man city and Barcelona carry on business as usual despite blatantly breaking rules by overspending
Morning Eire, agree with you as far as paying out for a quality coach. If you're successful in business, which Cellino is, you learn very quickly by your mistakes.
Good Morning TO MATT and co from a blazing sunny day here in the cote de Bardsey I would have liked the new coach in place by Tuesday at the latest from what I have heard Redders does as he is told which surprised me somewhat I think we will have one new loanee with the legendary HUNT going the other way or is that meant to mean the right way! I wish him well at FARSLEY CELTIC or wherever he finds a club he sure has been a total flop at ER Can anyone go to TA today and watch the new recruits and what time is theKO The player I would like to bring in would be....... Chris Woods of Leicester to give us much neede GOALS LB is covered I like the look of Taylor MIKE
morning all have got to say the bookies do not often get it wrong they were right about hock and don't forget there is no such thing as a skint bookie. cheers CHRIS.
Got couple of nice wins on the international footie yesterday 15/1 on both Irelands to win 33/1 on Poland to win 7-0 (Did anyone else see that a Farsley Celtic striker came on for Gibraltar) haha
Morning all ... hey elland, great point about the Academy being threadbare now on the coaching front, your argument for Redders staying as Head of Academy makes even more sense ... Steve Clarke will be just right for us ... a highly respected coach who worked closely with the Chosen One, he should be exactly what our young squad needs to nurture and organise them ... I am starting to believe that Cellino has sat back, looked long and hard at his investment in the squad and the future, and he is seriously thinking about upping his game in terms of the new coach ... he must now realise that these young diamonds need a proper, experienced man in the dugout to ensure they realise their potential ... Cellino has millions riding on this, not just in what he's paid out so far, but also in future transfer fees if he wants to keep the talent at Leeds ... he genuinely cannot afford another Hockaday, and he can also see that the playoffs and promotion is a real possibility in this division if you can just settle down and be consistent ... In terms of more loanees, I think Cellino may just try and get a striker in ... the only issue with emergency loans is its 3 months not full season, but you can renew the loan in January to end of season ... Mike, I will try and get to TA today to have a squizz at the lads ... On the International front, if Scotland were to play England right now, the Scots would hammer them ... I fear for England, they have allowed the Prem riches to slowly erode their talent ... I predicted 5 years ago that England would sink to the level of Scotland and Wales in 10 years if the Prem continued to shut out young English players, seems I got that badly wrong because they're there now, and Scotland actually look better than England ... I have a feeling that Sloth will take Murphy's place and maybe Bianchi will take Austin's and they will act as more box-to-box midfielders rather than having one to specifically hold with Adryan ahead of them or on the wing. That's my impression anyway, or Cook will take Austin's place by the end of the season. Right now though I still feel like managers would want Rudy in the team, especially a new manager that would know little about him and just immediately see his strength, power and passion and think he is an amazing player like every other manager that has come through the door.
Not sure I can agree with you on that Billys about England being at the same level as Scotland and Wales. I purely think that currently a lot of our problems lie with the manager, he isn't a manager with the mindset to go out and win games. He's always been good at keeping clubs from getting relegated and thats what he should stick to. I'm not saying we could be world beaters but there is a lot of young talent in that England squad which could be matured into a fairly decent team if done right.
Morning all I wouldn't put too much stock in the bookies slashing Clarke's odds. Lets not forget that is affected by how many people are betting on him just as much as any "information" they have. We really are just going to have to play a wait and see game on the manager front, and I don't think we'll see anything today. Hopefully we loan some players out, and reduce our squad size because its still too big. Particularly Norris, Morison, Hunt and now probably Tonge too are not going to be getting game time and so should be sent elsewhere, preferably with "elsewhere" paying 100% of their wages (might be difficult in Morison/Hunts case)
Still think Norris has something to offer the team, technically sound and his experience would help the younger players. Would rather see Tonge, Hunt and Morison offloaded before him
