Coming up for the game on the 20th and looking for a decent back street type boozer/traditional pub for before and a short time after. Not arsed about it having football on as it's Watford v Bourmouth and Liverpool v West Ham, but real ales would be welcomed, as would sensible prices.

Any suggestions?

Pretty much any pub in Newcastle <ok>

Walk for five seconds and you'll see one...

I'd recommend the Goose, because it's pleasant, but seeing as you seemingly wish for ale that tastes like gnawing on a desk, I'd suggest the pubs just next to that nearer the University

Cheers, is that the one under the bridge? Is it like a pub inside, or more of a converted shop/Weatherspoons place?

If you look to your right our of the station you sill see Wetherspoons.
I'd start there, then as you look at Spoons theres a road on the left with long bar on the corner.
Walk past long bar as it's ****... But you're on the diamond strip there so loads of bars to choose.
A hundred metres up the road on the right is a canny pub I've met Sombrero at called the star.
Further up there's Tilleys where they sell over 100 beers and JPF, Cbrad and LTF bottled a Dutch firewater challenge with Cove once... Hic....

Gay bars don't bother me as such, but I do feel rejected if I don't get chatted up and have to explain I'm straight.

Tilleys looks just the job. <ok>

Cheers bud. Stay lucky.

Tilleys Is officially my favourite bar in the town. Great range of beers from Hawaii to Poznan.

And some cracking one liners on their facebook page.

Last night, my wife accused me of having OCD. I immediately put her in her place.

I'm off to a club where you drink all you want for just under £20.... So tonight I'm going to party like it's £19.99!

My girlfriend was very specific that when we got a house, it would have a lengthy corridor.... I should have spotted she was in it for the long hall.

I went to the Drs..... I had a spring onion in one ear and a green bean in the other.
The Dr said 'why have you got a spring onion in one ear and a green bean in the other ear?'
I said 'What?'

Sitting in front of a roaring fire, I thought to myself: Lions don't burn as well as logs.

The aquarium's shut for a week for cleaning porpoises

I've just been given a cassette of protest songs to listen to....I think it's a demo tape.

I just couldn't remember what those ballet skirts were called... then I put Tu and Tu together...

After studying semaphore for 3 months, I've noticed my interest is flagging.

Someone just complimented me on a cuppa... I told her, 'it's my special tea'.

I went to a seventies party last night dressed as Ziggy Stardust, only to find lots of people over 70.

I got so much spam this morning.... I should have cancelled my subscription to 'Tinned meats monthly'!

Incredible to think isn’t it, that every single Scotsman, started off as a scotch egg.

I've just been diagnosed with Sausagephobia. I fear the Wurst.

Whoever stole my copy of Microsoft Office is in BIG trouble!! You have my word.)

Depending on how much time I had, from the Station I would head up Pink Lane to The Forth, across the lane to The Town Wall, up on to Westgate Road to Tilleys, then to The Bodega and to the stadium. Or just go to one of these bars and sack off the moving about. Never thought about whether any of these bars are away supporter friendly or not but I've always assumed every bar in Newcastle welcomes away fans as long as they don't mouth off too much.

It's sort of a drink for the elderly here in The Netherlands, I think they have a death wish: 'Screw this, I'm past 65, lets destroy this liver I have.'

Bols also has a brand for the bit more daft Dutch youngsters: Goldstrike. 50% vol and contains gold.
