I'm 6 foot 2" and weigh 13 stone 6lb, I used to be 14st 9lb but recently started running most mornings then the gym at work most nights.
If anyone wants to try a good diet, I highly recommend the 5 2 diet, you fast for 2 days of the week and eat want you want for the other 5 days, it really does work as long as you stick to the fasting on the 2 days.

I'm off into my gym now, 20 mins on the bike and 10 mins on the rower. No gimmicks or short cuts, just get on with it and try to sweat as much as poss...that's when I know its working.

Oh and maybe 100 press-ups afterwards.

Not sure to be honest fella, I'll know when I get there. I've got a big frame you see, losing too much would look daft. I want to lose enough to take the weight off my ticky knees so I can start Boxercise but circuit training is too much atm even with my knees heavily strapped. If I can get down to 15/16 stone then I'll start training.

I lost a stone with the 5:2 diet, passed a medical and came off it, put 1/2 stone back on and lost it again by going to the 5:2 - seems a good way of controlling weight.

Need to exercise hellishly more though - golf just ain't enough.

Have you ever looked into spinning?

I know a few people who swear by this.

I've just started spinning when I watch Big Brother. Picked up an exercise bike for free last week. But that's at home to my own pace. Been to a spinning class and it nearly killed me <laugh> but pedalling is much easier on the knees than running.

    It's murder isn't it?

I'm only 5ft 10 fella. Average hight. Thing is I've got huge calf's from lugging my weight about on my toes for years playing football while obese, Bet there's a fair bit of weight in my legs.

First time I've met you fella, but was expecting a bigger bloke from Joe's description. Bet it's been a while since you've seen Joe, He won't recognise you fella.

Love exercise and sport. Cycle & gym regularly on cross-fit stuff. I do about 10 hours per week plus dog walks and golf, and ideally a weekly paddle in the kayak. Trying to get back into a bit of running but it bores the bejesus out of me.

trying to get back into decent level squash and tennis for the winter as lots of good indoor court facilities. Need a sport to stay focused. Footie days are over it appears, sadly.

Portion management is the thing for me. I eat healthily but have a tendency to tuck in. I used to burn through copious amounts no bother prior to mid 30s. Now my metabolism tells me to **** so I have to watch it.

The portion reduction worked for me too, but 2 secs in the bedroom done feck all. If i think of Pardrew and Newcastle I sometimes last upto 7 secs.
