BTW, that play was offside. Remember it well. The miss meant nothing.

I think it is just that, Pops. There couldn't be a hater collective will wanting this lad to start banging the goals in.

On a side note, I see the ROI beat the son of Satan 2-0. sounds like an interesting game.

Our worst striker since Rod Belfitt! Probably the worst striker ever to pull on our glorious shirt!

I'm one of them tbh, but i will gladly eat a great big slice of humble pie if the lad does come good. My fear is that if we are relying on him to score goals on a regular basis, like a decent striker should, then we could be in for a very long season and end up struggling again.

Bloody predictive text. How 'greater' becomes 'hater' is a bit weird, but hey ho.

Welder, are you saying you're willing the guy not to score/come good? Or you're just a hater? Or something else.......

lol I had a amusing dream last night after reading this thread I reckon - my dream Altidore was scoring goals all over - and the chant from stands was The Toreador(Altidore) from the Opera Carmen - oddly enough the words fitted - I blame all the Belgian beer I drunk last night

I'm saying I'm not one of his biggest fans mate, hater would be a bit ott, but just don't see what qualities the lad brings to the team. But I'd love the lad to prove me wrong mate, I just don't see it happening and if one of our strikers gets injured, he is our back-up which scares the **** out of me if I'm honest.

We needed to buy before the deadline and now we're shafted till January.

    Not so sure mate.

Fletcher can score in the Premier League and Wickham was 'hot stuff' at the end of last season.

Alvarez is a World Cup finalist and Altidore would've played every game for USA barring his injury.

Giacherrini will score and make goals when he's played regularly.

I wouldn't say we're shafted, just that Poyet needs to find the right way of playing people together.

I believe Fletcher was 'shop-windowed' and he'll now make way for Wickham.

To me Adam Johnson's goal gainst the Nags at there place this year showed Jozy's value to the team. He sold Williamson a 'pork pie' in that move with his flick. He brings others into the game which is what the system is all about. Showing him miss against Cardiff is a bit lame. He got himself in a position where he needed to be. Every striker in the world misses chances....just comes with the territory. Would love to see the lad take a free kick instead of Seb and just go for power. I feel if he gets a hold of one the opposition could have two goalkeepers in and it will not make a difference stopping from it hitting the back of net. He gives 110% for our cause....just needs a bit of confidence. The goals to me are just around the corner but the main thing is the assists....

Fletcher will always score goals given the right kind of service and I reckon Wickham will also. Alvares looks tasty but until we see him perform for us, we just don't know.

My concern is injuries, we'd be left very exposed if either Fletch or Connor got injured or both. Giaccerrini is capable of scoring goals but not exactly an out and out striker, neither is Alvares but I guess we'll have to wait and see what sort of system Gus adopts to accommodate them.

My fear is relying on Josy as back-up mate, I just don't think he has what it takes in this division but as I've said already, I hope to f**k he proves me wrong, I really do. Got nothing against the lad personally, just don't think he's cut out for the EPL.

I dont go along 100% with this notion that he gives his all for the team, if you watch him carefully he often slows down and backs out of putting defenders under pressure when he hasn't got the ball. I also notice he is rather reluctant to congratulate players who do score, I noticed this from day one and have seen little improvement since. However I do wish he could have a purple patch and knock a few in as this would invigorate him and do our cause no harm at all, but it is a long time coming.

I think there's a cracking striker hiding in there somewhere but he's hidden very well so far.

He's such a nice bloke I really do want him to succeed. Do I think he will?

    No.

To me I can't believe that anyone would have him over Fletcher at present. When I watch us with Fletcher up front it's like a scary reminder of the absolute garbage football we've played in recent times with a focus of having a few talented individuals and the rest lump it to them with no real idea or plan. Jozy on the other hand fits the shape we are trying to play and he may be clumsy at times but I think he s got a better footballing brain than Fletcher he reads a move well and finds the pass, fair enough he scuffs it half the time the other half were in!
