it will be interesting to see our next starting line up, I just hope everyone is fit to make it more clear what Gus has in mind. This international break is a killer coming straight after the transfer window closes, I can't wait until it is over and back to proper football.
Ditto, the sad thing is you wouldn't mind an international break, euro qualifiers if there was something to get excited about..
I agree with all of this, there's a bloody good team in this squad and we have a good manager. I'll be gutted at anything less than either a top 10 finish or Wembley.
We have nearly 350 International Caps in this squad, if Gus get's it right we will have a great season.
Not a stat man but this surely has to be a record for safc? I'm genuinely staggered to read that tbh.
We have experience in depth and that helped when it mattered last season, this season we have built on that with adding a few more signings that tangibly improve the squad. We need players like Giac, Johnson, Altidore & Wickham to deliver more than they did last season rather than cameo performances, fingers crossed that they do.
Here's a cracking stat, taken from the WMS podcast this week. Giaccherini and Wickham were on the pitch together for only 80mins last season. In those 80mins.... Wickham scored 4 times All 4 assisted by Giacch!!!
Tis if it's true mind.... Would like the breakdown of the games, and who else was playing, maybe there's a formula there.
Two very memorable games lads- City away Giacch set up both (did he come off bench?) and Cardiff at home he set up Connor's second. He didn't set up his first though cos he wasn't on the pitch. Can anyone think of another CW goal assisted by EG?
Maybe Connor assisted Giacch's goal v Cardiff? That's 4 goals on 80min where they were directly responsible
Birmingham in the cup this season. Im sure the stat is 80 minutes overall including this season so far.
I genuinely think if Gus is bold and plays an attacking 4 of wickham giacch Johnson and alvarez we'll score goals and win alot of games. Catts and Rodwell can protect the back four. We can bring Larsson or Bridcutt on to kill the game if we are leading. Its what most top teams do
With alvarez coming it's the perfect oppertunity to play 3 at the back, Mainly because we've now got the depth to have two for the most important position on the pitch. Would make it tough for AJ to get in the team though. Mannone Vergini-----O'Shea-----Brown Jones----------------------------------------Aanholt Catts----------Rodwell Alverez/Giacc Wickham-------Altidore/fletch or less preferable to accommodate Johnson, Centre Midfield is a bit light for me though. Mannone Vergini--------O'Shea--------Brown Jones------------------------------------------Aanholt Rodwell Johnson--------------------------Alverez/Giacc Wickham--------Altidore/fletch Even Ya Ya would lose the midfield battle in that system. Wouldn't work for me.
