This De Jong thing bugs me.....Considering he was sidelined for the majority of last season with a similar injury poses the question..How did this guy pass a medical??
Pards does have a track record of rushing them back. HBA against Anzhi was a shocker, Tiote and Cabaye were both on the receiving end a few times. Now de Jong. To be fair though he probably wouldn't feel pressured into taking such risks with players fitness if he was ever provided with a squad with decent quality in depth.
I'm not sure it is luck. SDJ has a well documented history of injury problems in the last year and a half. Marveaux was fragile. Gosling another. We love a bargain but it has only paid off once, with Demba. I think we forego the medical technicalities in favour of a bargain. Marveaux is a case in point. Rejected out of hand by Liverpool, taken on by us. Pardew does bring players back too early, it is partly because of a lack of quality depth but also because he gets desperate and actually listens to the player. HBA moreorless persuaded him to let him play in the Anzhi game. It was ridiculous and not the first time it happened with HBA. You can't blame the player, he'll always say "I'm good to go". Pardew should know better, even if it means fielding a weakened side.
That c#nt Pardew's got a lot to answer for. I lost both my arms and legs in a wan#ing accident and the bastard still made me compete in the 400 metres breaststroke relay under the name of Bob. If it wasn't for the fact I could recollect my muff diving expertise and breath underwater and had f#cking ears like an African elephant which flapped like a pigeon getting chased off a Harris Hawk, I could have met a watery grave. Ps.... Drink has been taken
To be fair, our medical staff have kept old Jimmy here going for over 137 years, so they must be something right. But as others have said, we do seem to constantly choose 'bargains' and wonder why they are so cheap. On paper, a Dutch international 'play-maker', who is the former captain of Ajax, with his scoring record, should have been snapped up by one of the 'top 6', or Barca/Real/PSG/Bayern etc. for £30m+ Strange how we got him for around £6m. Wonder why that is? Expensive treatment table that.
