Something i've just read, and never realised.

When the mags last won the FA Cup it was in 1955.

In the semi finals, they were up against York, They drew at Hillsborough, so onto the replay..Where was it played?

Roker Park, them ****ers playing a semi final at Roker, and they won 2-0, and made it into the final...

About now, you are all probably thinking 'so ****'. But in the other semi final, it was Sunderland V Man City..at Villa Park

Bugger, City won 1-0 and made it a Mags v City, final, aye and the mags won it..

So close to having a Sunderland v horse punchers final, just how good would that have been..

If we were to draw them in this seasons FA Cup, would you like them in the 3rd round, to knock them out early, or would you prefer it to be the final?

The final would be a disaster and the match would be totally overshadowed.

I wouldn't want our FA Cup win to be tainted by the Mags licking off afterwards.

Trafalgar Square, etc would be a nightmare the eve of the match and the service stations would have to be allocated to certain sides.

No doubt some will say, "Well it's a bad job if people can't attend a football match without there being trouble."

But this is the real world, not Fantasy Island.

3rd round at SJP and a winning replay at the SOL <ok>

3rd round please! Don't think my ticker could handle a SAFC v NUFC final! If we were to lose I would top myself. If we won I would probably explode! I wouldn't be able to handle actually watching it on the telly!

I would suggest that the footballing authorites would be pressurised into fixing it so that a derby final would be avoided! Perhaps make sure that we get paired in the quarters or the semis!

2015 will be the 60th anniversary of Newcastle last winning a current major trophy or celebrating at Wembley.

Incredibly I met a woman, at a family funeral in Chopwell this year, who was there!

I wonder if anyone on 606 remembers it ......... the match that is, not the funeral <ok>

Not even sure Semi's would be "doable" when you think there'd be the same amount of fans from both sides travelling to Wembley still - too much. I reckon it'd never be us v them in anything after the quarters

Love to play them in the Final, but as Smug says, they'd spoil the day. We've plenty of reasons to suspect they would.

I knew a women who was at the 1933, 75,000 derby county game and she told me an interesting story. She had to sit on the touch line to watch ! no trouble. Mind you I was at the 101,000 (yes that was the actual gate) 1985 milk cup final and the loudest ever match I have been to.

Was at the semi final at Villa Park, played in torrential rain with mud over the top of the players boots. We did everything but score thanks to Bert Trautmann in the City goal. They scored with minutes to go. The second semi in a row we had lost for no good reason.

Also so the replay at Roker when NUFC were gifted a goal from a goalie error by the City keeper. But the big controversy was in the original tie when City were denied a goal when the ball was a foot over the line but dragged back by the NUFC keeper.

Football doesn't change much does it?

Don't think I'll ever forget that ride home from Villa Park in '55. Rarely been on a more miserable journey. It wasn't because we'd lost - it was worse. We didn't lose to Manchester City. We'd lost to mud. Just after the 30 minute mark, Charlie Fleming beat Trautmann all ends up. It was a sure-fire equalizer ... and it stuck in the mud! Trautmann got to it first and it was saved. We were miles the better team that day, and felt robbed. We'd wanted that N.E. final so much.

The rain running down the bus windows in the dark said it all.
