I wasn't able to watch the Crystal Palace game due to my commitments (not sure if that's fortunate or not).

I've heard about how Aarons was the star of the show despite being just an impact sub. I've tried to find those highlight videos of him in the game but I haven't been able to find any at all, apart from those few goals that he played a part in.

The point being I am unable to tell if he is as good as advertised (I need to see it for myself to believe it, since everyone is entitled to their own opinions).

Just would like your thoughts on Aarons and has he shown that he isn't going to become like Sammy / Shola in his youth (glimpses of potential, never to be realised).

For some players, one look and you could tell they are going to go far if they continue their progress. In this category are your Andy Carrolls and Rooneys.

There are some others whom you see some potential, but they may never pan out because there are obvious flaws in their game, like Sammy, Nile Ranger. I still remember the game where Sammy sent a cross into the box where there was 0 players inside to attack it <doh>

Hope you guys would just provide your input on Aarons and how close he is to breaking out.

Bad news he is being linked with Man City and Liverpool after just 39 minutes of PL action! We will be powerless against these clubs of course, but we need to hold onto him for as long as possible.

I said it pre season, this kid is the real deal. I'd start him now and then protect him through the winter months before bringing him back. That's what a good club would do. I strongly suspect this lad will be playing for England within the next 3 years. Different world to Sammy etc. This lad is a natural talent with a purer understanding of the game.

In worse news he only has 2 years left on his contract which he signed in April! I'd be offering him 5 years on increased wages already.

Some players just have that edge in the understanding of the game that tells u he will succeed. And then there are the Obertans, the Sammys, the type whom you just know deep down, that despite how exciting they may look, they will hit a wall somewhere soon.

I didn't feel that when we saw Carroll in the Coca Cola Championship. Even Jose Enrique showed glimpses of his potential in his first season, albeit a disaster. He wasn't known as the Pitbull for nothing, he had this reaction thing that is really being underrated in the whole footballing world. In defence, if the player is able to anticipate and react fast enough to what the winger is doing, he will be able to do very well against them. That was what we saw Enrique and Colo do week in week out in the Championship against the opponents.

He is raw and a bit selfish but he has the goods. Give him 2 years and he could be Raheem Stirling

He looks awesome. There's just something about the way he strikes the ball (ronaldo like) that makes me think that there maybe something a bit special about this kid.

If we can sell Andy Carroll for £35m after half a season of premier league action we could be looking at £50m for this kid if he plays the whole season and delivers the goods ;-)

SDJ's injury may mean that Aarons' path to first team action will be fast-tracked now !

Apart from pre-season which I never saw much of....are you basing this statement on less than 45mins of premier league action ?

He certainly didn't strike me as selfish from his pitch time against palace. He looked very composed on the ball and brought other players around him into the game very well I thought. Its natural that players with silky skills who like to run with the ball are going to have a lot of it. That in itself doesn't make them selfish.

Not having a pop mate....just wondering what your judging him on.

I feel for him it is obvious he has real talent it's a Shame of the timing as he needs to be brought in gradually and given time to develop buy sadly he seems to be our only hope and the expectation level has started to go through the roof which can't help him.
And another shame is pardew is in charge and fat mike waiting to get a decent price for him

I think the most positive thing about him is that he has two feet!! hes shown he can strike a ball with both his right and left peg which is something no one else in the team seems able...he also can actually cross the ball!!!???

I'd love to see what Rolando could do under serious management, wouldn't perhaps Eddie Howe revel in the chance of helping to bring through the likes him and Arma?

Actually I guess I am basing it on last years FA semi final against Chelsea, which perhaps isn't fair. He was easily our most exciting player and looked like he knew it: took the ball and ran it at every opportunity. Good fun to watch but not always the best option.

As you say, so far he hasn't shown this so it's unfair to hold last year against him

I just realised: Rolando is Ronaldo spelt sideways. Got to be a good omen.

if the dippers or the Arabs come in the bidding should start at £35m. He's better than Carroll.

The best thing we can do right now is to at least double this lads wages and sign him onto another 5 year deal. Fair enough he's only played 39 mins or whatever but he's made more of an impact in that time than the likes of Sammy have in the last 2 years.

We've had promising youngsters recently who just haven't made the cut but I've got a feeling about this lad. The 'positive' thing about having Ashley at the helm is surely that he cannot resist a deal, meaning he surely won't be stupid enough to let his contract run out.

Clubs like our simply cannot stop bigger clubs coming in but you need to take them for everything they've got. This is what ruins English football but if they want to take our most promising youngster to warm their bench then make the ****ers pay through the nose. Extend his contract and we're in a win-win.

That happens 90% of the time Sammy or not!

Aarons...looks proper mint. If this 2 year contract is the case that needs sorting out very quickly.

    Well, defend first, remember?

Aarons looked special, though. Imagine if we had a manager we could believe in, and Rolando (fcking awesome name, as well) on the wing.

I remember Agent Bruce raving about him ages ago having watched quite a few of the reserve & U21 matches. He said way back that Aarons stood out a mile and looked the most likely to 'make it' out of the young uns.

With regards to the big guns going for him, hopefully he has enough sense to realise he'd be far more likely to get game time (and therefore develop properly) with us than a team like Citeh or Liverpool where he'd soon disappear. That said, I totally agree that it should be top priority to sort his contract out. 5 years+, bump up his wages and write in a hefty buyout clause. Now!

Obviously I want Rolando to stay but to lump Liverpool in same bracket as other big clubs buying up English talent and wasting it is bit silly.
They brought through Sterling. Paid big for, and played, Sturridge and Henderson.

In saying that they are bin dippers and can sod right off if they want Aarons

I'm having <ale> but I'm sure he'd appreciate that instead.

Sent him a text this week - he seems OK, but didn't say much. <ok>
