Apparently Siem de Jong's latest injury is likely a serious groin tear (sounds nasty). If this is confirmed in the scans he is going to be out for at least 4 months.

Sickener for poor de Jong and Pardew is probably sitting at home slowly rocking back and forth and keening his woe. No good breaks at NUFC I'm afraid. I just love it when we gamble on injury prone players to save a few pounds over buying the alternatives, it always pays off.

Don't worry - de Jong will be back around January time, he'll be like a new signing. January transfer window done and dusted.

FFS! I just wanted the new players to adapt and learn to play together. Would help if our probable best acquisition could play.

Jesus suffering f**k. One of the guy's we were apparently going to rely on to chip in with a few goals and out for that long? This season is really going to taste of a vile dose of the devils porridge.

    Riviere
    Aarons Cabella Sissoko/Gouffran
    Colback Tiote

Or maybe a switch to 4-3-3. Riviere could probably do with the extra support, and Cisse always looked better in the 4-3-3.

    Aarons Riviere Cabella
    Colback Tiote Sissoko

Terrible news of course but he has had injury problems for the best part of a season and a half. We knew what we were buying.

On the flip side, we'll ave to play Aarons and Cabella will move into his favoured central role.

my worry is that pardew won't "entrust" Aarons and will go with obertan at soton ...or just play

    gouff rive sissok
    colback anita tiote

hopefully we don't because that line up will be ripped to shreds....
somehow I think Aarons will fall under the same class as hatem and become a luxury player..supposedly Aarons did an interview where he said pardew has told him he needs to track back more already....

He does have to track back. There is no free role for wingers anymore, even less so at a clubs like ours. Look at Sterling at Liverpool. You don't see Rodgers being criticised for telling him he needed to work harder. You look at Sterling now after taking on board the advice, he is an even better player. He gets back in, he tackles, tracks runners. He still does it at the other end. Same goes for Hazard. Mourinho told him in no uncertain terms to get his arse back and work. Nobody jumped on him. Hazard openly took it on board. The problem isn't managers asking players to track back and work. Its players who think they are too good to.

Pardew clearly like Aarons and cannot be criticised at all so far. He has introduced him early and he is blossoming under him. Aarons has already shown in 39mins a desire to work harder. He got back plenty in that cameo, and wasn't afraid to get stuck in. He is strong lad by the looks of him too.

We have to protect Aarons too. The winter months will come and rather than flogging a young lad, we need to remove him. The blueprint for developing players of this nature has been long laid out, we only have to look at Sterling. He disappeared last winter. When he came back in the spring he was fresh and shot them up the table.

this is true but we know tracking back in pardews mind seems to be making sure you're a second left back at all times...just worried as pardew has shown several times he cannot nurture "flair" players ben arfa, marveaux and amilfatano (not a great example I know but he's known as a flair player in france) but time will tell.

I think the more worrying part of all of this we are not in the position to "protect" him, after the transfer window we look very short on creativity and so far the only promising source looks like Aarons and I think if we want to win games he must start (mush like janauzi for man united under moyes) I think we've left ourselves in such a weak position when it comes to wingers and I don't understand why we havnt invested in one and as far as I can see we only have 2 (neither of which are established 1st teamers)

Aarons and obertan?? and before anyone says anything, gouffran and sissoko are not wingers they provide no real width and no real end product... Aarons showed in 39minutes what it means to be a winger and we have sorley missed a winger since the 5th placed season.

I bet he cant believe his luck. Perfect excuse for the piss poor form that will no doubt continue and when he does return he will be 'like a new signing' so we wont need anybody in the January transfer window either. WIN / WIN <steam>
