Worked at Slaley Hall part time since I was 16 (22 now).

Recently graduated with First Class honours in Exercise & Sport Science. Ideally wanted to work for the NHS or in private health but it's ridiculously difficult atm.

Recently took a promotion at Slaley and now probably going to embark in a career in hospitality.

Work as an IT Trainer for the NHS based at the old Earls House site (now Lanchester Road Hospital) but spend a lot of time on the road. You know what they say, those who can't, teach - and those who can't teach, teach IT!

Had nearly 23 years in the Army and loved every minute of it. Now work as a civil servant for the MOD as a senior legal administrator. I have a cracking job, cracking boss but the pay is **** - I could move but i cant be arsed with the rigours of civvy street.

What a fab thread, getting to know you peers especially with all the bickering goes on, surprised with all the great jobs. Should have a piss up and get to know you at Xmas jolly.

I am fortunate enough that I could have put my feet up at 49 but found myself setting up another IFA company out of loyalty to my clients, especially interested in pensions. Been financial adviser for 25 years now, just about everything before it.

Ideal job, that zoo keeper was interesting, especially rhinos. I had a 3 month jaunt to Kenya as a young chap and spent some time in lake Nakuru at a rhino conservation park, that would be mine.

    Great post comms

Public sector unfortunately. Although in the NHS the benefits are very good. I can earn nearly 10k a year more working outside the NHS but it would carry much more risk and stress and also very little reward for longevity. Have 8 years service with the NHS now and, if I was made redundant, would bring me enough cash to start up my own business and pay my mortgage for the first 6 months whilst the business was building... No point going into private sector for more money - although, if the tories have their way, the NHS will be privatised sooner than most think!
