Ronaldinho has been offered a chance to extend his career - by Basingstoke Town. The Conference South side have offered a contract to the former Barcelona and AC Milan star who is a free agent after leaving Atletico Mineiro in Brazil, according to the Basingstoke Gazette. The 34-year-old has also been offered flights to England and accommodation as part of the ambitious deal. please log in to view this image http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...stoke-Town-yes-Basingstoke.html#ixzz3CMOQH2sx Slow news day...
He's still quite good isn't he? I'm sure he was im the Brazil team not long back and some wanted him in the WC squad. Guess this is just one of those clever free publicity things.
To be honest, I'm very surprised he is a free agent. I thought he would've at least still been at a Brazilian club. I bet he'll go to MLS or one of the Arab megabucks leagues.
I think I remember reading in FourFourTwo that he wants to one day go back to his boyhood club which is Gremio I think?
It seems a bit silly to me when a non-league club does this kind of thing. Maybe they think it advertises their ambition but it looks more to me like mammoth bullshitting.
Nope He helped unfashionable Atletico Mineiro win the Brazilian Championship in 2012 and the Copa Libertadores in 2013
At the time, there was more excitement about that signing, than there is about any single signing this season. Though obviously he was just one player, this time we've completely overhauled the squad, which is a much bigger deal.
I think and correct me if i'm wrong, but i would say he was our all time biggest name signing. Not saying the best just the most famous player.
In my time supporting City, I'd say it went... Bremner Bullard Huddlestone With a special mention for Okocha.
In the early fifties we signed Neil Franklin, Wilf Mannion and Stan Mortenson. If my memory serves me right I think we paid 39,000 quid for Wilf (who was way, way past it) and a crowd of 39,000 turned out to see him at "fer ark". Franklin had come back from exile after signing for Bogota and still had a bit of class whilst Mortensen, again, a mere shadow of his former self, still had a bit of pace and held his own. All, like Raich Carter, were ex internationals.
