I think that's been dispelled mate, I can't agree with that. QPR use that as a way to say a player joined them when really they've just offered them £20k a week more than any other club. Bent left London to go to Sunderland, as did a load of other Spurs players if I remember correctly, probably for less wages.
Well that's just wild speculation isn't it though, they did sign for Boro, that's fact. There are very nice areas of Tyne & Wear also, so that's a mute point. We don't need to debate this anyway, cos no way on gods earth would it happen, nor would the FA allow it. Comparisons with Azhi are a bit strange, give that that is due to the size of the country and the volatile atmosphere in the city.
Yeah its nice of people to talk about losing the roots and not being in the area but how many of us live next door to Premiership footballers? Look ill be sad if it happened as it speaks volumes about footballers wanting to live in my homeland. BUT please remember these are very rich spoilt kids who don't appreciate the area or the people and to be fair neither did many of us until we got older.
So where does it end, do Hull, Boro, Toon, Leeds etc follow suit, pushing London house prices higher and leaving a dire trail of mess in local economies. This is the most ridiculous and unmanageable idea I have ever heard, I'm staggered anyone would suggest it could benefit the club, city or region in any way.
14 of the 20 clubs in the PL operate outside of London, therefore that's wrong as well. The vast majority of talent that comes to the PL to play, plays outside of London.
So what happens to any local talent we pick up? Would they be expected to move to London to train then just come home once a fortnight to play home games? It really is a crazy idea in my opinion, and would rip our identity to shreds.
That's a simple and fairly solid fact mate! Now people will say 'yeah but Manchester this, Liverpool that....'. Newcastle has everything, more or less, these cities offer, and is less than 15 inutes drive from the AOL.
You never heard of scouts then. Sorry to shock you but the North East is one of areas most heavily scouted by southern clubs. Why would they be upset about where we trained. They,d be quite welcome to set up in the North East and may already have a Centre of Excellence here anyway.
Look its just a debate, in that scenario up to the under 21s level would be local at the AOL. I don't want this to happen but ive seen crazier things happen!
Eric Cantona played for Leeds before he went to Man U....Last time i checked, Leeds was nowhere near London. Andy Cole started off in the capital with Arsenal and Fulham, then he left this so called wonderful place, and never returned to a London team,
In the context of this debate, which is about transfer targets choosing London over the North East, I would argue that the vast majority of players when given the choice will choose a London club. As I said, there will be exceptions.
Football has changed since then mate, the gap between the footballer and the fan is wider than ever. Players are now richer than ever and the rich want the (perceived) best. The big clubs can still attract big players but given a straight choice between a London club same size/smaller against us, it will be London all the way 9 times out of 10 and nobody on here can tell me anything other than that! We live in a world of fine margins and geographical area does add to those margins.
They will go for money, not London. London, of course it has a oull, but most go for MONEY. West Ham, QPR, the 2 teams of comparable stature in London, pay much higher salaries. Palace haven't gazumped us for anyone, they pay less. Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs are plainly much bigger clubs. It's about the level we are at, and what we pay, simple as that. Rodwell chose us for footballing reasons and took a massive pay cut, most are the opposite and go for the money. Who, by the way, overlooked us or the Toon for London this window? Vargas?
The exceptions are the ones who choose QPR over Everton for example, that would be ridiculous. You can't just keep batting away name after name and claim they're all exceptions. You're trying to say that you would advocate a decision to move your training facility to another city just to facilitate players who are materialistic, or come with materialistic wives and girlfriends. The fabric of your club being torn apart to facilitate a person who would care more about his wheels than the survival of your club. ****ing jesus pal, get a grip.
Thinking out of the box is good and even though it wont ever happen in the near future i can see something like this happening in say the next 30 years! People will probably look back then and wonder what all the fuss was about. Who did we lose out on in this window? Well probs Borini...if we were in London he probably wouldnt have even boarded the plane to USA for that pre season tour in the 1st place. Im not for or against it i just think in todays world it would never happen but in the distant future it might be more easily acceptable.
The whole idea is inane, inept, weak as piss. Just like the players really. London. Melting pot for third world ****. Wouldn't spunk on it if it was burning. But if it was, I'd throw every bastard asylum seeker on the fire. Any high horses don't like that...... suck my fat dick.
That's what I said mate, it was basically a warzone. That was the only reason they didn't live or train nearby. That's the only club I've heard of actively recruiting players to be based nowhere near the stadium. I'm firmly in the of you pay them, they will come camp. Hull made us look amateurish this window. They're in arguably a bigger ****hole, they have an unfashionable manager, no history but they will have sold players on wages and ambition. The only way we can compete in the transfer market.
Just a debate, calm down. So are you saying that that the fabric of a club would be ripped apart because it uses another training facility. If so, we better had stop all future pre season training in Portugal etc.
Haway mate, that's a bit different, moving the training facilities, and therefore the clubs staff, the people in the offices etc, is taking the club away from the community. It's a frankly ridiculous idea.
