Isn't that where you buy bedding from?

I wasn't ridiculing by the way, I was just asking, as I never seen owt in Newcastle apart from that shopping centre.

Don't know if you cannot find anything for less than £10k in Selfridges or Harvey Nichols.

We do have Europe's largest indoor shopping complex (Metro Centre) though.

I edited my comment btw tel. Debenhams is a general department store. There is John Lewis and Fenwicks as well in Newcastle. Like I say, I love it up here and wouldn't swap it for London

You need to get down to London a bit more mate.

This training camp thing is interesting but I'd frown upon it. The only time I've heard of something similar is when Anji bought up all Europe's elite.

They lived and trained in Moscow instead of a warzone. I don't think the North East is that bad.

That's why I used the word 'even'.

I also exaggerate quite often fyi, just so you don't get offended if you wish to read everything in it's literal sense. <ok>

We have the Trafford Centre, it's similar to the Metro Centre only full of Scousers and Burka-clad families, who are all on the same mission which is to find the Primark that doesn't exist in the mall.

If the squad are travelling together from the training camp, then they would arrive together. False economy though to think that a Premiership club would be concerned about the cost of a short flight set against the obvious financial benefits of a more successful team playing without fear of relegation. Hey, we might even win something!

Sorry, but the players won't move North thing is bullshit, Hull just dispelled the myth, as did the Mags under Hall.

We can't attract players cos we pay less money in wages, it's plain and simple as that.

It's not just the clothes though, it's the home furnishings, the restaurants, the hair salons... it's ****ing ridiculous really to me, but when wags get their grubby claws into new money they don't know how to behave.

I'd be straight off to NY to live, but I'd miss this place dearly, it's my home and where my club play. I'd have to console myself by having hoards of strippers in United kits visit me every day to wake me up!

I think it would work in terms of getting us the players but something niggles in me that it lacks soul. We should be thinking outside the box though.

You may reconsider that next time we lose a player you really wanted because he preferred London to The North East.

Good players attract even more good players.... Meaning more chance of success and the opportunity to pay higher wages and compete at the right end of the table. It's all relative but
unfortunately the vast majority of talent prefer the capital.

Fair chance that every one of this players would have gone to a London club if offered the opportunity.
However, there a some very nice areas in Teesside, not all industrial landscape you know!

why not just relocate the whole club to london? this is a daft idea

it would truly be the end of Sunderland as a traditional big club with a working class background and id find it insulting

Yeah I was the 1 who brought this up, mostly through frustration but this does happen currently in Russia where Anzhi players live 1000 miles away in Moscow

You are easily offended. Do all Hull City players live in Hull then?

    Bollocks mate.

Hull signed 2 Uruguayan internationals yesterday, Newcastle had the likes of Ginola, Asprilla etc.

Also, setting up camp around London would cause massive issues with local sides down there, of course it would, we'd be lifting young talent from under their noses.

We either pay the higher wages, or accept mediocrity, moving the heart & soul of our club is not the way to progress.

See Comms post above, stacks of players have moved to the NE, we pay **** money, that's all it is.

no but we don't have our 'base' in london, it'd lose the soul and identity to the city imo

    Good debate.

Like I said earlier, why should we be bothered where players actually live or do their training. it's what they do on the playing field that really matters surely.

We could train in Outer *****lia for me, if that helped us build a better team.
