Overall I'm very happy with our dealings in the transfer window. I also think we will get more midfielders chipping in with goals than we have in recent years and I think Caulker will get a few too (he looked very dominant in the air in the opposition box on Saturday)
I happen to know that flyer is very pleased with our summer signings. Its just the manager who dont make him happy.....I gave 7/10 because we are still very vulnerable upfront. Havent we learn anything from last season? Otherwise im very satisfyed with our signings. Sandro could came a ranger-legend!
I very happy with business done in this window with players like Mutch, Fer and Sandro that the midfield sorted for years to come. Lot of people saying when we signed Rio all the other signing are going to be OAPs well that wasn't the case. Only disappointment was letting Simpson go and not bring in a striker. Hopefully Vargas bangs in the goals.... U R's!
Comparing out transfer business vs other clubs destined to be in the relegation mix has slightly changed my perspective. Hull and Newcastle look like they've also done good business and I don't think Leicester have done badly. I rate our new recruits better than everyone, but Hull, but losing Remy means we haven't strengthened up front, unless Vargas is a goal machine. I gave it an 8. The lack of striking options means that we can only realistically play one up top. That said, Remy going might actually be a blessing - Austin's work rate will create chances that will allow our midfield to push forward. Our midfield is our strength and we need to use that. I reckon we're also more tied to 451 (or variants thereof) which might be a blessing in disguise. I'd assume Vargas will need time and it'll be interesting how the team lines up.
It's a 7 for me...some good, young signings. Hopefully all do well with us and help our club grow. The loss of Remy so late and the lack of replacement took the shine off for me. My hate goes towards Mourinho and Chelsea over that one though, we had our hands tied by that contract and sounds like we had a good go at replacing him. We now have two good goalkeepers including one for the future, a defence that should be ok (though we're maybe short on FB cover?) and a midfield with bite and hopefully a bit of creativity. Just a shame we've been left a little short up front again.
7 for me though the fact we did not agree to pay Borini £90k / week might merit an 8 and signing a good forward would have made a 9. Not sure what merits a 10!!
I voted seven because we were primarily after a striker and we struck out. We have bought well in other areas and the team as a whole is looking good. I tend to think the only reason were still lumbered with SWP is that he wouldn't lower his weekly wages and that a Conference league team can't fund it.
It's an 8 for me, would have got 9 if we got in a decent striker, but glad we stuck to our guns & not pay borini what he was asking, well done the team.
We've brought in mainly young players and have not been held to ransom with wage demands, so a positive overall. I particularly like the signings of Caulker, McCarthy, Isla and Sandro and would not argue against any of the others. There are glaring negatives, though, in the lack of strikers and the seeming abandonment of the 3-5-2 strategy which informed the Ferdinand signing and the discarding of Simpson. A 6 for me.
7 for me, because of the non-replacement of Remy and consequent vulnerability if our strikers get injured before Jan. Don't think Tony and Harry had a sufficiently strong Plan B if Remy went. We are, anyway, reliant goals from midfield and thankfully are strong in that department. Hopefully that will be enough to take us to Jan without dropping away from the pack in the relegation fight we will surely be in.
Voted 9 but should prob been 8. Question was how would you rate our transfer window wasnt it? Not how do you rate the player we signed during it.- Big Diffrence. We've done a lot of good work both getting young players in and getting rid of others. They are not all stars but the turnover and raised level of skill and ability means we have done a lot of good work...so back to nine. Yes there are problems, striker shortages etc..but look how many we've got of the wage bill and the money we have saved. If we could have shifted Adel and SWP it would have been 11 Not to many in to disrupt the make up but just upgraded all positions. im well happy ,
I voted 7. Would have been 8 if we had got SWP out the door and 9 if we had got another striker. Would have been 10 if we had got another LB and RB as well as the two previous points I made.
7 for me- Short of quality/ numbers up front, at full back and I would say on the wing. Sandro, Fer, Caulker Mutch all cost decent money but I believe som very good signings. Isla could be the bargain of the season as well if he settles
Don't want to be finicky but its 0 in 2 with him in the team and 1 in 1 without him Whoever'd have thought that just a few months ago when we had to pack five in there just to keep from being overrun by Championsh*t teams?
