Food for thought. If we had these funds without selling players, do you thinking the signings we have made show enough ambition that could have made them changes their minds ?

I am a very happy Saint right now , but thoughts ?

 

difficult to convince players when they have concrete offers from champions league clubs anyway

 

Honestly, right now I don't care if they would have stayed - I just really, really, really hope we stuff it up them this season and make them utterly regret their decision.

Our problem was and still will be wages. These guys coming in will have the opportunity to earn really big bucks if they do really well with us. Nothing was stopping those that have gone.

Brilliant signing. The best of the lot! Good window in the end, thank you to the board and Koeman.

 

I think it's clear that Koeman was a huge factor in him coming here too. Fantastic to have a manager with that kind of pulling power. Don't want them to get too attached though, in case he leaves one day!

Seriously though I am chuffed with this and have been nothing but impressed with Koeman so far. Long may it continue. I take back all the **** I said about the board and Krueger as well. It was easy to get caught up in all the emotions of our best players leaving at once, but we've come out the other side and look nothing like the relegation fodder many pundits and even fans had predicted. But, the board have stuck to their guns with regards to Schneiderlin and Rodriguez. They appointed Koeman as our manager. And they signed some damn good players, some easily of equal quality of those replaced, and for far smaller fees.

Hopefully now we can kick on to top half of the table again. I'm a very happy fan tonight.

So what does this mean for the formation side of things I wonder? Variation of 5-3-2 maybe with Toby, Gardos and Fonte at the back?

 

It means we have 4 good options for 2 positions in our back four, but can also play with three central defenders.
