Great bit of business by our astute gaffer in the window. Feels like we are a striker short is my only negative. But still feeling pretty chuffed with the new faces.

Think with the attacking midfielders we've brought in that should cover it tbh

We won't know without seeing Hernandez play. We have Abel, Jela and Sagbo as out and out strikers. Then Ince, Aluko, Brady, Ramirez and Ben Arfa who can play up top. I feel we have enough cover.

Hernandez, Jelavic, Sagbo - 3 out & out strikers
Ramirez, Ben Arfa, Ince, Aluko - 4 players who can play the striker role if needed.

    I think we'e fine :)

Can not believe we have got Hernandez, Ramirez, Ben Arfa (and even Diame) effectively for the price of Long going to the saints.... (salaries of course add up)

Would you have thought a few weeks ago Saints £12m purchase Ramirez would have been swapped for Long alone?

Brilliant business & we have plenty of attacking flair now & don't need another striker.

Maybe, though the service to the strikers has been as much a problem really. If that improves the forwards should get more chances.

Play Arsenal/Chelsea style. Jelavic as a physical presence leading the line and bringing 3 of Hernandez, Ramirez, Ben Arfa, Aluko, Brady and Ince into play around him. Two of Huddlestone, Livermore and Diame sitting deeper in the double pivot with Elmo/Rosenior on the right and Robertson on the left from fullback. That'd be one creative team.

Sagbo on the bench to cover the Jelavic role in case of injury/fatigue.

I'm disappointed in myself for not posting on this thread. I agreed with you at the time. Our striking eggs are all in the Jelavic basket. All these attacking midfielders cum wingers are great but our game is all crosses so we need a centre forward and we only have two in the whole squad.

I would say we are at lest two strikers short, god help us if Jelavic and Hernandez are injured for any length of time together.

How well are Karim Rossi and Johnny Margetts developing?

Could they have potential to do something whilst Jelavic is out?
