He's had as much chance, friendly games included, to stake his place in the first team thinking as any other player, he unfortunately never came close to doing it. Personally I'll be sorry to see him leave, by all accounts he's a really decent bloke, and he can obviously play a bit, but he just hasn't shown what he can do since they came back, and it seems that has cost him, we can't afford to wait.
Good honest pro. Hope it works out for him. This goal was a massive factor in our promotion to the PL as well as being a cracking strike.
Very nice goal, however he received something that none of our midfielders appear capable of at the moment, an attacking diagonal pass, and the beautiful through ball was from none other than Jay Simpson!
Disappointed he's leaving, but hopefully we'll be able to sign a more than adequate replacement before the window closes. He provided the injection of energy we needed to push on for promotion to the Premier League, then proved he could step up to the plate whenever he was called upon when we got there. Wish him all the best at Burnley!
I think this move will also be affected by his international prospects; Scotland actually have an outside chance of making the playoffs this year, so to be playing for them regularly he'll have to get regular club football at a decent level. Burnley can give him that.
Find myself having said this about a few players we've moved on in recent times, but good luck to you George, another model pro how has graced our team in recent times, run his bollocks off every time he's played and never complained about anything. Wish you all the best for the future, do us a favour and snap that horrible twat Marney in training and legendary status is yours
