I'm with you. Ambivalent at best is how I feel about him. For the number of actual games he wore the shirt, see ya later. Didn't help keep us up. Buggered off for his own benefit to Newcastle. Talked a good line at the start of this season but then he gone. Self serving modern day footballer. So no surprises there.
I will clap him 100% it's rare that any of our players go to Chelsea history shows us it was always the other way round. He is an outstanding talent and deserves the top table of football in Europe Chelsea are not a football club .. they are a worldwide organisation and one day so will we be. Progress
He's gone and that's that. Personally I think he only agreed to join us to put himself in the shop window for a move to a "bigger" club, hence the release clause. He plays for Chelsea now and I would treat him like any other Chelsea player.
Until we get a new stadium that will generate an income to move us to a higher level we will always be a 'stepping-stone' for up and coming players. Remy's agent knew the score when we stole him from Newcastle in the first place, he only joined us because of that clause in his contract which was weighted heavily in his favour. He would have been gone last season but for the rape charge hanging over him and anyone who thought he'd stay this season is living in cloud-cuckoo land, the way he's gone has been disruptive but very predictable and I'll be surprised if Harry hasn't got at least one striker lined up to sign, if we don't get a striker in then Harry and TF will have failed us...
to put it in context, he only played 15 games for us. he's a mercenary like others we've had in recent years and will go down as a footnote in our history alongside Granero and bosingwa.
Arry said after the game yesterday something like, the news only came in at 12 o'clock, it came right out of the blue, totally surprised, never thought he'd leave, etc etc. So i hope he's got Lens lined up and hsan't been on the blower to Toronto all night and day trying to fix it .
Ah but it is this game and this is the nature of football - we being the 12th man. When we played Chelsea at home after the first season up - our crowd clearly intimidated the opponents, the ability to our an ex player etc off their game on the day is part of the culture. Green and Barton regularly get grief from opponent fans - both seem to do well - Barton seems to get energised by it even. The choice of if an ex-player become hero, villain or zero has long taken place in pubs and cars and trains and is a thing debated - a primordial type of crowdsourcing....... And to say it is only a game.... heresy!!! This is tribal life.
Is it bollocks most fans are high on any football nowadays. No way is the QPR fan base tribal anymore … Those days are long gone The game is all about betting on anyone and anything, add to that fantasy football formations, players just moving from club to club for money and fame all cemented by one thing money. I admire Wenger who is clever enough to know this and doesn't join in … he builds sides and makes players … yet their fan base are as fickle as ****. QPR will continue to spunk money on players with very little planning such is the case today and then later in Jan … there is no tribal stuff and Remy is a brilliant player who is now Chelsea and helped us the best he could for me he gets 100% support for being a modern professional
Tribal life eh? That obviously doesn't extend to supporters taunting each other, according to you. Your criteria for which abuse qualifies for mock outrage and which is just harmless tribalism is amusingly sanctimonious. Someone's made a BOO BOO. UH OH LaLa! please log in to view this image
DT - you know I agree and disagree..... there is a new global football fan and a new type of player which are both all about the money.. most of us on this site - I suspect are a bit older and have been with QPR for a while. When we played Milton Keynes in the cup at home a few years back - the club dropped the price to £10 or something? the crowd that we go them was VERY local and angry and shouted at our players as a bunch of overpaid XXXXS. I have lots of friends from the local areas who come to game - but not every game as they are priced out - I think we are unique in a Prem Club that this fan base is our core of about 12 - 14 K who turn up every week. They are not about the glam and will clearly tell Remy what they think of him... we are still unique IMO about have a passionate fan base - compared to other London clubs - apart mate from West Ham / Millwall.
And you cannot understand why shouting abuse along with thousands of others at another family man is any less wrong. Hypocrisy noun the practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case
Rubbish I was there at the MK game with mates and the atmosphere was crap with kids running about. There are small pockets of old skool lads no doubt but I have seen a massive decline at LR … I agree with you I would love the old days back but it isn't going to make it la la which IMO is sad but real. saying that we are guaranteed a voice against Chelsea. When you think about what will happen to QPR and the new QPR fans required to fill the new stadium then we see football watered down as we know it … Brighton is the same and only slowly is a core reassembling as the old North bank tribal. My Millwall mates still are holding fast with the traditions but even they are moaning that the soul is getting watered down. I am not talking about trouble here just merely the full passion is being drained out of football by money and the media
Sorry DT But I know many QPR fans that would disagree with you on non-tribal front. As for the rest of it, it's opinion. All of which you are welcome to have. I personally disagree with you but, like you it's opinion. As for the game being about betting, I've never been in a betting shop in my life as I see it as a mugs game personally. Never done a fantasy football thing of any kind. I do agree there is too much money in football though. The thing is, I know many QPR fans that are similar to me in both approach and attitude. As for Remy being brilliant, he was so good he kept us up. I don't argue he is good but brilliant, Na. Messi is brilliant, Bale is brilliant, Ronaldo (makes me choke to say it) is brilliant. But that also just opinion.
