I'll start of by saying great result today and a very assured performance, showing that Suarez was not the be all end all for us.

On to my point, have we ever had a more flexible group of attacking players in our side? Sterling can play absolutely anywhere, Sturridge anywhere across the front 3, Balotelli often drifted outwide. And that's not including players like Lalana, Coutinho and Marcovic.. Add that to the ever interchanging Allen and Henderson, Rodgers has really struck a fluid look to our team and the diamond suits us perfect.. Especially now we've aquired some decent full backs!

    Brendan Rodgers <applause>

It was so refreshing watching our fullbacks today. We've not had good fullbacks in a long time. Enrique was/is good but I think he hogs the ball in attack and is slow and unfit generally

And this formation suits Gerrard so much better. He played well today and stuck to his defensive duties better.
Although we will miss Suarez , I think the players we have bought in are very good and we know lallana will add something extra as will markovic once he gets a bit more game time. Add to that the promise of origi then Rodgers has spent the money wisely.
The fact that though we have bought in 8/9 new players the backbone of our team is still there from last year and we can integrate them more gradually where necessary.

In our side? Not in my life time in 1988 the positions were fixed but Beardsley was prob the most flexible then Barnes, Beardsley rush/Aldo and houghton

Right now it's much more fluid and unpredictable and yes you cannot beat pace, we have it in spades

    But

For the first time I felt we are now a real set piece threat, not from anything but looking at sahko, lovern, sturridge and badontelly. Big lads those. If we get the set piece delivery right I think we can get a good few

Finally...... It's all about aggression, effort, fast closure on the right area and we did that today well. Hopefully we can build on it as we did a lot lot better in cm areas regarding lasting the pace... And spurs did put it up to us a bit, just lacked koala tea they did

Relief is my word of the day.

I must say whatever about Moreno who open his legs and fired one in.... Manquillo looks a find, his yellow was rash but he didn't commit another foul of note and was rock solid. And with Henderson willing to team no ball of note actually got past him which is a big improvement on Johnson, sorry but it is. A real find if the agreement includes buying for 4mil as quoted
