It's taken a long time but do we finally have good fullbacks that could challenge Riise/Arbeloa?

Too early to say yet... but looks promising!

Still not sure on Manquillo, but Moreno looks like he could be a superb signing

Manquillo seems to be a bit more rash than Moreno, two games two bookings. Hopefully it is just him adapting to the Prem. Thought they both did well today and the defence looked the best for some time.

Lets not forget Aurelio. He was awesome.

    Johnson replace Arbeloa <whistle>

    £17m

Moreno and Manquillo look awesome. Great bit of scouting.

Today was only the 9th game of Manquillo's professional career. He'll tidy up with games.

Moreno scored a Bale esque goal, but wont get the plaudits. He is constantly up supporting the attack, great player thus far.
I like Manquilo, but he just needs to calm down a bit, still miles ahead of Johnson though. I would still expect Flanno to come in as 1st choice RB when fit.

Jose at LB was pretty good before he got injured, but it would be nice it this meant the passing of Johnson.

I loved Riise but lets not be too rose tinted. The guy was not a great defender, but had an absolute beast of a shot and made some very good runs going forward.

Johnson will still play as soon as he's fit. He's still got that absurd clause in his contract which means he plays when fit. **** knows which moron put that in there...

Yep, there was a break from our box at one point and the man running farthest forward was Moreno Centrally lol.

If he keeps playing like that only injury will replace Jim.

Will be good having Flanno and manquillo competing for that spot. I like both. GJ can sit and watch and enjoy his last year of money for nothing.

Moreno is quality and scored a 'riise' type goal.
Manquillo has done really well and shows more defensively than Johnson. Actually tries to stop crosses coming in and is quick too.

Brilliant goal - will hopefully prove to be a great outlet for us to turn defence into attack this season.

Just a shame that half the pundits are confusing him with Chelsea's manager...

Excellent scouting RE Manquillo, under Rodgers and with more first team experience he could become an excellent player, certainty an upgrade on Glen Johnson..

I think today we played our best back four, Sahko and Lovren will be an excellent partnership if we do not rotate. And Moreno was arguably our MOTM even without the goal (which showed everything that he's about)

I thought he should have been MOTM too. As good as sterling was I think Moreno showed what he is about and why Rodgers was so patient in waiting to get him. He's still very inexperienced but the potential there is for all to see.

Rash maybe but has the sense to avoid a second so all in all while Moreno did more going forward manquillo for me did a great job in his role

    But

Not just full backs lovern played rcb and owned it today the mad bartard... If he can keep sahko straight it'll be big for us

Too early to say but early signs are
    Moreno = great buy
Manquillo a bit rash but nice to see a RB who will run to get back in position when the ball is played inside him to an opposition player
i'm quietly optomistic as i thought as a pair that was our best FB performance for possibly years
