Did I miss anything? Judging by this I did. http://www.wfc.net/goals/huddersfield4.mp3 Tried a few updates from the Beeb, never good, and the stats did not show any emotion. Maybe they should find a way round that.
Bloody hell! Should have been out of sight by half time. Pegged back, got our noses back in front only to shoot ourselves in the foot and then shoot ourselves in the other foot Tamas! And then.... well you just had to be there!!! TD9 up front, on his own, we're playing 4-4-1 or was it 5-3-1 or was it blob-0-1 which is what it resembled to me... and then... and then, well, you just had to be there. Then the Rookery, from fairly subdued despite all that was going on suddenly got it all together and became the 11th man.... they got their voices together and inspired the team and inspired the rest of the crowd. Together, every stand, we sung them home. You just had to be there... and if you were this is one game that will be indelibly etched into the memory. Gary Porter's hat trick v Bolton and that game against John Aldridge's Tranmere.... and today 4-2 v Huddersfield Town. Did I say you just had to be there?
An odd stat from today's round of games in FL - there were nine red cards issued, six of them against teams who went on to win their match. So maybe a sending off is not so disastrous....
Wow, what a game. Only slightly ruined by an over zealous use of yellow cards by the ref. At the first 2 games this season the refs seemed to be vey reluctant to get a card out, but yesterday he was flashing them like he was on crack. I thought that Abdi and Deeney were awesome yesterday, but I also thought FF had a very good game and his part in the win seems to have gone a bit unnoticed - his tackling back and passing were very good and he created a lot of space for Deeney to play in. He just needs to lay the ball off a little sooner instead of trying to take on the extra defender. But very happy and a little hungover after celebrating into the night.
Absolutely. 6 yellows and a red sounds like it was a dirty game when it really was not. Deeney is outstanding -his attitude yesterday was phenomenal and if others can follow his example we could just do it.
Ask any Premiership team and they will all tell you, Neil Swarbrick is definitely NOT a Premiership standard referee!
He had a little mans syndrome. He knew he couldnt earn the players respect through making good, sensible decisions so he would demand it by booking anyone. It didnt help that he set a precedent with a silly booking early on. Once he did that he had to produce a card every time anyone did the same thing. We had a full 1:49.58. But they had chosen Cardiff vs Fulham as their feature match, focused on Norwich with Clem. Both of which were boring games! He is your typical Premiership ref. He loves to give a car and dislikes letting the game flow.
The Huddersfield Daily Examiner seemed to rate FF, though they raved about Deeney. http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport/football/news/watford-4-2-huddersfield-town---7692810?
Sannino says "he saw his face on the pitch " yesterday, and raved about how a "team of friends" played for each other. A good riposte to his critics, But the main "face" I saw on the pitch was that of Deeney. Outstanding as a player and as a leader. Excellent at hold up play, scored a goal, always fighting for the ball--and for the last twenty minutes played as the only man upfront when the team was under the cosh. Always in the ref's face, making the point on behalf of teammates when they were either fouled or penalised. And finding time to gee up the crowd as well. An outstanding performance, that must have inspired the team--well it inspired me, and I was only watching. At the end he was completely exhausted. He cannot keep that pace up all season , so Sannino must plan for the games when he will need to be rested --or is injured. Thank goodness he is not an international--gives him proper time to recover. And thank goodness he is still here! The heart and soul of the team.
