Without ANY doubt and with NO bias, our Captain produced THE very best display of CB skill/performance you are ever likely to see. I would hate to see Ryan ruined by being included in an England squad.
Of course he didn't see it. He only watches about five teams. Funny thing is, he'd walk straight into the England side if he re-signed for Man Utd, without even having to play a game. He'd walk back into their side too at the moment, so you might not want to shout about him too much!
According to Collymore he isn't good enough! https://twitter.com/apb1979/status/505786018059259904 LMFAO!
I had the pleasure of being there to see us beat Citeh yesterday. Without doubt Ryan was absolutely outstanding. As we're all 11 plus the subs. Have to say, that result gave me more pleasure than the Bolton semi final win. If Ryan does not figure in Woys plans then so be it. He was amazing, the best display by a centre half I have seen for a long time. I saw a tweet from Man City official fan club. It read, congratulations Stoke City, only the 3rd team to take 3pts from the Ethiad. A great compliment from the current Champions. KTF one and all.
Well done fellas, great performance. I think Shawcross has been easily the mist underrated CB in the league for a good few seasons now. If he played for one of the top 4 he would probably be England captain at the moment. Hope you guys keepo doing well.
I feel enraged by the continued exclusion of Shawcross. I would love to hear Roys reasoning behind his decision when the stats back up the quality of Ryan. I wonder if it is because he has not played on a bigger stage (ie Champions league) so Roy thinks he would be ill-suited to the pressures of international football. Maybe if this game had been last week, pre call up.......
And thanks Jesus, good to know we have your blessing. In the absence of Stoke having a realistic chance of the title, I'm hoping you guys don't miss bitey Suarez too much and make it to the top this year; I have a inexplicable dislike of Chelsea and Man City.
Players like Colback got called up..... He really is the most fickle person I have ever come across. Sadly for Roy, he can't brown nose Chris Smalling/Man U as Smalling is injured
I doubt it would have made any difference had the Man City game been last week. I get the feeling that Hodgson will not select him again, for reasons known only to himself, and irrespective of his performances.
It also ticks me off that he has called up Chambers and still JONES! This is evidence as to how he only chooses to call up players from teams from higher up in the league. He says that he gives players a chance, YEAH RIGHT!
Completely agree with this, its been a failing of a lot of England managers. Ethrington, in his pomp, was worthy of a call up, but Capello went for the likes of Young & Johnson who were not performing as well.
Wouldn't surprise me if there is some sort of bribing or payment linked to choosing players that are as deplorable as Smalling and Jones
I think Wenger has got something on someone at the FA. He hates Shawcross and his young players get picked consistently before even proving themselves. He also seems to be asked about selection. Or, I could be having over - valued ideas again.......
Morning Zoz, over-valued no...over-sensitive no. That suggestion is worth considering - yes. As you know Zoz I love a good conspiracy theory. Your turn to start one
There seems to be a small amount of momentum building up in relation to omission of Shawx from the squad.
Will not make any difference Smithers, none of the squad are going to rock the boat and jeapordise any future selection chances. Just read that Stones is in the starting XI. Bottom line for me is I don't give a damn about England. Keeps Ryan safe and sound and away from mediocrity
Selfishly I would rather he wasn’t called up, keeps him safe from the additional risk of injury, keeps his value down (from being a big name signing) and probably keeps him more grounded and reasonable on his desires for more money or a move away from the club. I do feel for him though, and honestly believe he formed one of the best defensive partnerships in the league last year, probably after Cahill & Terry (spit)! With Terry retired form international football it’s hard to see a better Central defender out there – who can represent England. For me the logic once Terry retired of having Jag in as a left footed CB to play alongside Cahill was understandable, but I don’t believe he had done enough at either club or international level to warrant an automatic selection. Selecting Smalling who (IMO) is woeful and inconsistent is to my mind a disgrace and in addition he is often played at RB for his club – although that is likely to change moving forward. I do rate Jones, but probably more down to his ability to play a multitude of positions but I again question his success as an out and out central defender.
