Typical Newcastle United. Look solid and organised for two games and can't score, go forward and look like scoring a few and 3 poor goals conceded.

The last Palace goal really pissed me off because it's beyond a Joke. Why was Anita forced to mark a man over a head taller than him?

Anyone else but Anita who is pretty much useless when it comes to defending set pieces. I'm not blaming Anita, I'm blaming the team as a whole. A soft and simple Williamson routine-esque ball in and we can't defend it.

Absolutely pathetic.

Ratings -

Krul - 3

Janmaat - 5 - Good goal, but exposed defensively.

Willo - 4 - Good goal, but should have been on the bigger players from Palace set pieces, and could have been quicker to close down players.

Colo - 5 - Should have kept his players in line towards the end. Mostly good defending but he, as the captain, has to take responsibility for the dreadful defending of a set piece.

Haidara - 5 - Good runs forward, good work rate, average defensively.

Anita - 6 - Can't be too harsh on the bloke. He's easily our most tactically aware player, and does a better job than anyone else, defensively, at RB. It's not his fault that he had to mark someone a foot taller than him.

Colback - 5.5 - Good work rate and a good first half or so. Tailed off towards the end,

Sissoko - 4 - Some good running with the ball but little when it came to final product.

De Jong - 3 - Some decent flick ons and link up play with Cabella and Riviere, but nowt much to speak of.

Cabella - 5.5 - Got an assist, good work rate, still getting used to the pace.

Riviere - 4 - No service. Tried hard and got an assist though.

Perez - n/a

Aarons - 8 - Has to be man of the match. He changed the game when he came on, and surely has sent a message to Pardew that he's worth far more game time than f**ing Obertan. A great goal, good work rate, good efforts on goal, and a good assist. Did more than the rest of the team in 20 minutes.

Pardew - 2 - GTFO.

MOTM - Aarons.

Sadly we have a habit of players marking the wrong opponent, remember Liverpool in May.

Here's mine:
Krul - 5 - I'll have to see that first goal again, pushing the shot out into the danger area is a bit lax, but that maybe harsh. Didn't sniff the second or third. Kept up with the pace of the game and instilled urgency, I thought. One good save to tip a shot round the post, about average.
Janmaat - 6.5 I thought he was the best defensively, and he scored a goal.
Willo - 5 - Didn't get near the attackers, very poor, but got a goal.
Colo - 5 - Also didn't get near the attackers, but acted well as sweeper.
Haidara - 6.5 - Thought it was between him and Janmaat for our best player before Aarons got on the pitch. Our best attacking outlet in the first half, combined effectively with Aarons in the second. Defensively should have done better on the first goal, and on the second he let his man just peel off him, so if it hadn't have gone in first time, the chap he was marking would have scored the rebound. Needs work defensively.
Anita - 4 - Came on at RB, goal came from down his side, didn't do much else.
Colback - 5 - He was alright, but personally not as effective as other games.
Sissoko - 5 - Getting the ball from deep he tried to take charge and started some really good moves, but still he's lazy getting back, and not good enough in the final third.
De Jong - 5 - I thought he looked fairly good and intelligent with his plays, but a lot didn't come off for him. Certainly showed he was more of a threat than Cabella.
Cabella - 3 - Genuinely think this lad is gash. He's got the fancy earrings, and the looks, but this show pony is mostly just pony <ok>
Riviere - 4 - Please dear god get another striker... PLEASE.
Perez - 4 - Not on for that long, but didn't do anything good with his minutes this time.
Aarons - 9 - Couldn't ask any more of him with the time he had on the pitch. Fantastic. And now everyone ion the premier league will have watched and took notice.

This is a problem we have had for a long time born out of a lack of a proper leader on the pitch. This badly needs addressing.

A team needs a few leaders, remember Keegan saying last year that when he was manager in the 90's he always made sure he had plenty of leaders with people like Bracewell, Beardsley, Clark, etc. Now there is only really Tiote and Colo.

agree with the ratings

some points I'd like to note watching from the stands.

1. cabella is good but he's too light weight for English football he needs to muscle up

2. The free kick tactic that we use (long ball to Williamson to head across the box) doesn't work and hasn't for 2-3 seasons and I'm sick of seeing it.

3. We pass it back to krul at every opportunity

4. We never win the first header

5. We cannot play with 1 up front. manu needs a parter

6. gouff is lazy and should be benched

7. aarons must start the next game along with perez (or another striker)

8. krul seems to be going backwards as far as development goes, he was poor today

9. Our team doesn't seem to talk to each other cabella just stuck his arm out for the ball instead of shouting for it

10. pardew is **** and needs to go

You both seem to have forgotten the invisible man with your marks.
Fair enough he was crap again, but he was on the pitch apparently, although I struggled to see him.
C'mon what happened to Gouffran.

Indeed. If the **** had any self respect he would resign but he is a spineless bottomfeeder mate, he knows he will never get a more cushier gig than this and will hang on for dear life like the disgusting, degraded parasite he is.

My thoughts are, I'm so utterly fed up with Newcastle United that I'm trying to adopt an ambivalence to pathetic results I see happening a mile off.

The residual joke though is quite frankly wearing far too thin and in truth has been for longer than any of us care to remember.

What happened to "After Man City, Newcastle have a nice run of results to get some early points on the board" – by who's logic?
There are literally NO 'bankers' for us anymore in a league largely populated by the very average, not even at HOME these days, none of them. The fans are to blame for that though eh Alan?

On Wednesday I tweeted Neil Warnock will have HALF a week at best with his team, but they'll still perform better for him than this shower (#nufc) for Pardew.
And on the basis of the way the match unfolded and the result they got, I was 100% correct.

No disrespect to Crystal Palace whatsoever, good on them, but my god if we can't take three points in these "bread and butter" fixtures against the fellow dross set to slosh around the Premier League's nether-regions then we might as well pack up now.

Rolando Aarons didn't deserve not to be on the winning side today, but he can be rest assured his ability and application will grant him swift departure from this shambles.

Oh and while I'm at it, never mind this 'Ice Bucket Challenge' stuff – here's an idea, what about a "Decent Set-Piece Challenge"??? No? We know why, because the charity would get naff all from our boys. Couldn't hit a barn door with a barn.

I could get depressed about it but then I sit down and remember that two good lads, better more deserving fans than I, lost their lives following this perpetual disappointment...

Perspective reclaimed.

Lovely post. For me, Pardew is simply making me fall out of love with my home town club.

Why is Coloccini immune to criticism? He's over the hill and crap. Ship him out to Argentina and get 2 in

to early to assess just yet ..but nufc will never learn one rule in footie ..keep the ball oot your own net .. with weakness allover the back four in a defence which leaked goals for fun last season ..is going to be the same this season ... 2 full backs look shabby and got caught out up field ... aswell as the walk aboot don't mark colo as usual .

I just couldn't believe it.

We have tried the Willo setpiece for 3 or more seasons and it has never worked even once.

And today we were scored upon with that exact set piece.

Just how embarrassing can it get

Is it right that Pardew has indirectly blamed the fans for us chucking away the lead?

The fans weren't even calling for a fourth, they were just desperate to win. It was his job as a manager to install confidence and belief in the players to see the game out in a calm fashion and he failed. If we lose the next game against Southampton, the Hull atmosphere will be poisonous.

It will. I'll be surprised if we get more than the single point against Southampton and completely unsurprised if we get less. Could you imagine how we would do under Pardew if our squad had been utterly uprooted like Southamptons has been? We'd be obliterated on a weekly basis.

I expect a loss against Saints then at best a draw against Hull.
