I was amazed to read a number of posts on here recently; correction. I am fuc***g furious!!!

Not so very long ago, we were struggling to survive as a club. I won't go over the history again - we all know it far too well! Now, I see people are bemoaning the fact that we "only" lasted two rounds of European football; that we have a "boring" season ahead with "only" the prospect of a "top half finish" in the Premier league to look forward to. When will everyone be satisfied?

I started watching Hull City in the mid 1950s. How well I remember those wet Wednesday nights in the East Srand at Boothferry Park, watching my team struggle against the might of teams like Halifax Town and Gateshead. Some nights, it seemed as if there were more players on the pitch than spectators in the stands. The nearest we would ever get to a European trip was a Bank Holiday Monday at Withernsea. The dream of playing against the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea was just that - a dream. If we managed to get into the third round of the F.A. Cup everyone hoped for a plum tie.

Now, I fear, too many supporters are getting too big for their boots. We are only in our fourth season of Premier League football and Steve Bruce is assembling possibly the best team that has ever represented our fair city. Yet, there are those who expect us to run before we can walk. That snotty nosed kid on the East Stand terraces all those years ago dared not dream of where we are today. Last season, we finished 16th. If we manage 15th this season, we have improved. What more can we realistically expect?

Tomorrow, I will be at Villa Park supporting my team with pride. We are a Premier League club! We are Hull!

An excellent post. I read a thread on AN all moaning and wailing about not been in Europe. It screamed out I I I I wanted this. **** all to do with the good of the club just their own self interest. How they could have gone on the piss in different cities and now they have to go to Southampton or Man U, how borings that!!!

'too big for our boots'? Are really a City fan?

'struggling to survive' They would have always survived even if they had restarted, no danger of a city of this size having no professional football team.

It's better to want wins rather than just be happy with defeats, too many before the FA Cup final said they didn't care what the result was. I think we could have done better against Lokeren whether you want to admit it or not. Nobody however expects much in far more difficult games this season.

No one for a second is saying be happy with a defeat, but we're saying stop pissing and moaning now it's been done.

Amber Nectar really annoyed me the past couple of days.

They seem to be under the impression that if you aren't massively devastated with elimination and are not angry with Bruce, you're a ****.

I'm not just talking about the regular members of the forum there either. I'm talking about the higher powers there.

Did we really have crowds in the hundreds back in the fifties? So most of those that were there in the mid 60's were glory supporters? Interesting.

Having spported city since 1970 I agree, this is fantasy football as far as I'm concerned .. I never thought I'd see my team okat wembley .. tick.. I never thought we'd spend a million pounds on a olayer .. tick .. I never thought I'd see us play in the top league .. tick .. I never thought I'd see us in an f.a. cup final .. tick .. and the thought of playing in europe was just too silly to even think about. These are unparallefed times in this club's history .. ee have an excellent manager .. an owner that backs him financially a squad that I could never dream of .. and still some moan it is not enough. Mind blowing at times

Well said. Doesn't seem much point trying to add anything to the original post.

We're about to sign a player I'd never in a million years expect us to sign, to add to the very best team we've ever had.

We've never had it so good.

Very well said. As another long-time supporter (1948 my first game) the Bruce/Allam era seems like an impossible dream come true. We have far and away our best team and manager ever, a great stadium, and are playing Clubs that seemed totally out of our league just a few years back. Even though I'm now far away from the KC I'm sure all of us ex-pats can't wait for the next game on our TV each week. Good luck tomorrow lads.

Totally agree. I will be flying over the Atlantic when the team plays tomorrow. Arriving in the USA my first job will be to get the score. Great times for all tiger fans young and old.

Expectations guide how well you do. Expectations in the past were nearly nothing so the club did nearly nothing.

I just wish all of you would wake up and smell the coffee. We are , at this moment in time riding the biggest crest of a wave Hull City AFC , in their 110 year history, have ever been riding. It is ,in my opinion only going to get bigger and greater, so sit back enjoy the ride and get behind the whole club Groundsman to owner.
As for the plastic that said Brucie has lost his respect for what he did over the European games....... well just goes to show what type of supporter you are and your bus seat is waiting for your glory hunting day trips elsewhere, most probably Bellend Road. If you are that unhappy don't go to the KC... we can do with out your negativity. obviously you aren't worthy of the glory days that are waiting for the greatest set of players that have ever donned the famous Black n' Amber.

You can always look back with envy, in your doldrum days of finding a great team to follow.

If standards don't evolve and go up there is probably little progression to be made.

I understand your point of view but you have to realise that the club is where it is BECAUSE standards have gone up. KC stadium would not have been built if it wasn't for people moaning or someone wanting to push the standards of the club. We we would still have Phil Brown if we kept thinking "at least he isn't Phil Parkinson"...

Signings like Huddlestone and Hernandez are a perfect example of standards going up to help push the club forward. If you choose to be satisfied with "surviving" and constantly look back to the past and think" at least things aren't as bad as they were" you don't go anywhere.

I agree that some need to tone it down a bit but still...

    Lol Mr Hat .

I must admit I WAS well gutted we got knocked out of the Europa league and I think we SHOULD have played our strongest team in both legs.

    Pissed off we didn't.

Almost 50 years a supporter myself....Europe might never happen again....A great chance to get further thrown away ...imo

I now hope we go all out to win the league cup and play our best team at west brom.

Hmm 50's in our promotion season 1959 I think only to come back down very quickly

1959 Bill Bradbury, Bulless, Feasey 1959 second in Div 3

2014 Tom H, Abel Hernandez, Robertson 4 points in the Premier League after 2 games looking to push on from a FA Cup Final visit.

Never would have thunk it. We should be pinching ourselves not bemoaning being knocked out of Europe.

And as someone said the closest we got to Europe in those days was a trip to With, or playing in a German bomb crater!

I very good post, I was as disappointed as anyone that we lost out on Thursday evening, but we have a squad of players and we have to use them. If we play the same team week in week out then they will be burnt out. The team that was put out should have been good enough to get us through, but on the night we were not good enough. At the end of the day SB is an employee, he has to balance EPL survival with the other cup competitions, as EPL survival is financially absolutely paramount.

Amber Nectar who I really like their reports and pod casts also annoyed me, they sounded selfish saying the club had denied them their European fix, and effectively said that they would give up Premiership football for more European away days, which I find selfish to the extreme.

    Its a disgrace.

We ****ing lost against Arsenal in the FA Cup final and then got knocked out of Europe by the away goal! Now to add insult to injury, we have spent millions on players.

**** Steve Bruce and **** the club.

Now if anyone thinks that the above comments are NOT ****ish! **** YOU!
