Been really close over the last 6 weeks lost the place pot by heads and necks but no where near today AALIM Oregan 80%win rate I would say they want the next race
Hope you let the odds ride smokey I also went for crom brulee in the last race , I put him up at double figures back in sept and he obliged a definite power house fingures crossed to save the day
What a terrible ride by Probert on Whiplash Willie. He travelled beautifully and was asked to quicken into the turn, then completely inexplicably decided to take a pull and give Big Orange another length or two only. Should of won and should quite rightly be torn off a shred or two for that by his boss, shocker.
The only thing that I fancy at any of today’s meetings is Sir Michael Stoute’s Scallop in the Beverley 4:15. His runners here have a tremendous strike-rate so I expected it to be a short-priced favourite; but it was 3/1 when I looked not long ago. She has won her last two and has an impeccable pedigree (dam was Yorkshire Oaks winner, St Leger runner-up Quiff).
I think the bookies knew that Scallop was not going to win – out to 4/1 at the off. No idea why that Braidley was punted on but the winner cannot be crabbed for completing a four-timer; clearly an improving horse and there was late money for it. I had better start looking at the football for some winners as my four-legged friends do not want to know when my money is on them: 0/1 today.
I fancy Scarborough in this next at Chester. I have great respect for the trainer/Jockey partnership. They both are low profile but both know their job well and can be relied upon to both get the best out of the ammunition they have. Chester 5.10 Scarborough 9-4
5.05 Newton Abbot "The champion jockey on the Jim Best handicap debutant" - only one result really, even though the horse tried to throw it away between the last two. 113.
Really fancy Factor Fifty in the 525 - first and hopefully last bet of the day!! Oh Apart from my 6 timer footy accum which was let down by Portsmouth!!! :-(
Another impressive flat-race victory for Alton Bay at Wexford over 2 miles, easily accounting for a Rich Ricci / Willie Mullins hotpot. Already won a maiden hurdle in good style, could be one to keep an eye on in the Irish novice hurdle division this season - has a very impressive turn of foot.
Jim Crowley's freelance career seems to be going well, he as just booted home the last two winners at Sandown at 14-1 and 25-1, both inspired rides. Compare this with the Ralph Beckett trained Albert Bridge who at Chester was given an astonishing ride by R. Kingscote who pushed like mad to get across from a wide draw only to then volountarily race roughly four horse widths from the rail, very questionable. I hope Ralph was watching Sandown.
