Harry Redknapp set for new contract at QPR – and he won't even read the terms before signing

Despite a terrible start to the season, chairman Tony Fernandes has put a new offer on the table for the former Spurs chief

New deal: Redknapp is set to extend his stay at Loftus Road

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is set to sign a two-year extension to stay on as manager and says he won’t even bother looking at the paperwork.

Rangers have got their season off to a disastrous start by losing their first three matches without scoring.

But it has not deterred chairman Tony Fernandes from offering Redknapp a fresh deal at Loftus Road.

Redknapp: “It’s there, Tony’s offered me an extension for two years and I’ll sign it.

    “I haven’t read it, I probably won’t read it – I’ll just sign it.

“He has been asking me for a little while, but we’ve just not got around to doing it.

“I wanted to come back into the Premier League, I want to stay here and I will stay here this year – we will stay up.”

Despite bringing in 3-5-2 guru Glenn Hoddle as coach, Redknapp also admitted he could ditch his new system.

When asked if he would persist with the set-up, he added: “No, not necessarily but it’s a system that I like. You’re looking to get two forwards in your team and there are very few systems unless you play 4-4-2.”

The R’s have been dealt a double blow ahead of hosting Sunderland tomorrow with news that Alejandro Faurlin could be out for nine months with a recurrence of a knee injury while Eduardo Vargas is yet to secure a work permit.

It is Faurlin’s third cruciate ligament problem in as many years but Redknapp is still backing his Argentinian midfielder to come back.

“It’s a massive blow, but if he’s works as hard as he did last time then he’ll be back,” said Redknapp. “He’s a special lad and he’ll work so hard – I’ve never seen anyone work harder to get through.”

Sorry I'm just repeating myself, Tony Fernandes is a prick of the highest order. The 44% shareholders and 33% Mittals must be cringing. I simply don't understand what they're waiting for with this man.
    He's Walter Mitty on Coke!!!!!!!!!!
I need to do one myself, the negativity of my feelings for my team are starting to get to me.

When will you see what this man is?

Harry has essentially been saying lately and today that he blames the players and they need to perform. I resent this. Firstly, it's his job to get them to perform and secondly it's his job to set the team up really well and get them well drilled. I resent this!

But, to be fair, I wouldn't take his comments in the above interview too seriously. I don't think he means it literally. I think he's saying that he trusts Tony a lot and therefore knows it'll be a good contract.

You are, of course, completely at liberty to put together a consortium to make Fernandes an offer to buy Queens Park Rangers Football Club, and then show us all how it's done.

I don't see why there is any need to offer him a new contract right now! Wait till January at least.

Priority is the season ahead not filling Harry's pockets
