Does it have to have relevance to Hull? West Ham's bubbles, Stoke and Delilah, apart from the colour, Blue Moon, Liverpool (arguably) took walk alone from Celtic rather than the scouse singer, Sheff U Annies Song, Forest and Kintyre etc etc, most songs are just natural and have a catchy chorus.

My view is we need more chants more than one anthem. Caravan's been on the go in the crowd for years and never really caught on, likewise Welcome Home gets an airing.

We can keep trying this by all means, but as a chant and see if it grows to an anthem, but there's no need to dismiss trying others for some arbitrary criteria.

See above re chant v anthem, especially at the expense of other chants. As it is, caravan needs a good tweak so it can be circular, as it is, it fizzles out.

I look at this site fairly regularly, but I had no idea what they were playing caravan of love for, so I imagine that most people who didn't go on the Ferry, or read the various forums would have much of a clue either. If they stick at it, and sung loudly by North and East it might catch on, but I doubt it.

As for the East Stand Tigers chanting. I sat in E7 on Sunday and could hear a few South standers trying to join in, and sat in S2 on Thursday and I tried to join in (with a fair few others), but the problem is not that many joined in and quickly drowned out by the North Stand having another turn. As a result of the few numbers and other stands chanting over us, it quickly died out.

I also think the acoustics must be naff at the KC. When in the East stand it was a bit hard to hear the North stand, and I thought the East were singing well (and better than the North) even though others said afterwards that the East was quiet when heard from the North stand. When I was in the South stand you could hear the North stand quite well, but the East sounded dead even though you could see gesturing as if singing.

Prior to the evictions, the fact that east will struggle to hear north and vice versa, and that the empahsis should be on encouraging and assisting the quieter areas was raised by quite a few individuals, but refuted by the club. A collective voice may have had more joy.

Against Lokeren, the problem wasn't as bad because the singers were much closer to E1 again. As some passes were given out for what is the walk up area, there is, even now, still a possibility of making best.

We are where we are and need to make best of things. Some in E6 feel it's a better atmosphere, but as Philip Larkin said, it's hard to fall off the floor, and anything's an improvement, but it doesn't mean it was correct or couldn't be done better.

It needs better opportunities for those affected to input to try to get a wider range of options instead of people not really involved chasing single ideas.

There is a desire from all sides to make things work, and that needs encouraging, but it's difficult while people try to deny that big mistakes were made and claim it as a success.

As was said, even before Thursday, the edit was awful.

Before people knew what was happening, the chorus was over and it was into a weird fade-out.

Just do the chorus x2. (Which is also probably the only way it will take off as a chant, in the short-term).

I liked it. Think it should be given a chance over the next few games.

It doesn't have to, I just think it's preferable if it does, but I was really just making the point that if you're going to pick a Bowie song because the Spiders were from Hull, then it should be one that the Spiders were actually involved in.

Forest and Kintyre isn't random, there's some connection between Forest and McCartney's grandfather that led to it being adopted, much as we're trying here.

I like the idea of having a song that becomes recognised as our pre-match song and I like the idea of it being a song from a band with a Hull connection, I also think it's easy to sing and with enough taking part could sound impressive.

I honestly wish that it was still a case of 'isn't', unfortunately it's a case of 'wasn't'

Bowie's Jean Genie is my favourite song but I'm not sure how it could be adapted for a City chant

That's interesting. Do you have a link, as the Forest fans I asked reckoned it was to do with the ground getting a mist from the Trent. I always thought "Hull of Yorkshire" would fit with that.

I've looked (sad I know)and couldn't find a suitable one, but I can't help but think sea-shanty's would make good chants.

It was their fans on here that told me, I went on their board after we'd played them and asked why they had such a **** song and did it have any particular reason behind it and they said it was because of a connection with McCartney's grandfather(to be honest, I can't remember the details).

Intro music doesn't have to be adapted into chants, Bowie's Life on Mars would be suitable, the intro should also be about making a statement on our cultural identity.

Fair enough. A quick google only brought up the mist version, and ironically, Forest fans not liking it and claiming they play it too loud over the tannoy. <laugh>

It is a terrible song, I remember when I asked about it on their board, it started an argument as half defended it and the other half slagged it off. <laugh>

Caravan of love is an Isley brothers song. The Housemartins just covered it.
