With the demoralising news of Remy likely off to scumsville, this will leave us with OBZ, Charlie and Vargas. With OBZ only really with us for his heroics at Wembley and unlikely to ever be fit enough for more than 45 minutes. Charlie proved to be a hero last season, his goals kept us in the running, but his injury was the reason we only made the play-offs and so early in to the new season he's injured already. Add in the fact he's untested in the premiership, will he make it? And finally Vargas, who looked great in the world cup, but again untested in the Premiership and his domestic record isn't great but his international record is very good, but again will he adjust and produce for us? So we are clearly short on stirkers, Remy going in the 11th hour was our nightmare scenario and appears to be becoming a reality. I think this is why Harry was desperate to try and shift him early on so we knew where we stood, as much as I'm sure he'd have liked to have had him stay. It clearly meant while we didn't know what was happening, we couldn't afford to start buying lots of strikers. But how many do we need to try and bring in before Tuesday? Who are we realistically going to be able to buy who will bring us goals? We've been backed in to strong favourites to sign Hooper, but I just can't see he'll get enough goals. He certainly didn't get many for Norwich. With most of our early striking targets, the ice-man and Deeney having since signed new contracts I'm guessing they're now off the list. Can anyone think of a quality striker who can come in and do a job? PS The first person to say Defoe or Crouch gets a slap
I think most of us are speechless at present with little to offer as to choice. I'd definitely still take the first player but will counter your offer of a slap, to a 'Siberian sidekick to the head' to anyone mentioning Cr---h.
a preseason that looked like it was going ok (comparatively) with some sensible signings, has been thrown into complete and utter turmoil in a morning. We're going to have to work even harder than we thought possible this season to have any chance of survival. Just how do we keep doing this to ourselves??
I think utd want 20 million for Welbeck, I can't and don't want to see us spend that much. I think the best we can hope for is another striker from the continent and hope we find a new gem. But hopefully we can rely on midfield for a few more goals this year to take the pressure off the forwards unlike the last couple of seasons. If not we'll be in the ****.
After being told that we have learnt from our mistakes, here we are signing half a team in one window again. Speechless is the word for me. So much for building a team spirit. So much for implementing a sensible transfer policy. But I promises to try and be positive in supporting the team, because that's what we do.
I think we need two strikers not one if Remy is going, otherwise we could be in the s**t during the season.
I don't think any half decent striker wants to come and join us. If Charlie gets injured i cant see anyone else capable of scoring a goal apart from the odd goal from Bobby off the bench
I have a feeling that Remy's replacement will be Crouchy. There's a lot of rumours about Hooper, personally I hope this doesn't come off for two reasons. Firstly, he is a very similar type of player to Charlie, and secondly, he's always injured!
