as much as i'd loved to have seem more European football , too many things were glaringly obvious to me. 1. The Euro squad that won 2-1 last night is what everyone was agreeing a good squad team 2. it wasnt good enough to win a qualifier over 2 legs . E. it wont be good enough to beat Metallist and probably Trabzonspor & Ligeia (had this been our league) 4. the travel to these games would be a killer . 3. too many of the players needed to perform in Europe would be needed in the prem games 7. we have ONE striker and cannot risk him in a euro game Spurs can afford to drop say 10-15% of their point and avoid a disaster , City can't im gutted but we can live to fight another day and maybe have another good cup .
You forgot !!! 8, Now put out a strong team in 3 weeks versus WBA. Plenty of rest in the next 2 weeks so no excuse
Never felt so low after a game, playing the f**ing reserves in that first game will forever leave a bitter taste in my mouth. This was many City fans dream and we've meekly chucked in the towel as far as i'm concerned. Don't even think about losing on Sunday you set of c**ts
I've said this before but I'll reiterate. It's a bit OTT to imply that fielding a strong team would have cost us survival in the Prem... to say that in August after 2 games is absolutely ABSURD. We're talking about two games this early on in the season. Nothing is won or lost at this stage of the season. You have to take what is in front of you and we didn't. We had a negative approach to the entire thing. Which is the real disappointment.
What (I think) I said was, we fielded two teams good enough to win both legs. We won one and the other was a joke. I seem to recall it was Jake Livermore who made a noise about playing - and the outcome was? Move on, everyone has learnt something, I hope! Bruce can build on success and build from disappointment - he will.
Every game counts... if the focus is on the prem the focus has to be on the prem, from start to finish... especially with a run of winnable games at the start of the season. Everyone was confident we'd hammer them the other night even with the same selection from the first round. A freak event and one poor performance have cost us. Look at the players, not the manager. These guys can play well. Why aren't they doing it? We're all disappointed but some of the reactions about Bruce have been ridiculous! Look how far he's brought us! I can tell you now that he didn't WANT to lose that game. We move on, aim for a high finish and give both cups a real go this season. Some silverware and making history would be even better than qualifying for Europe.
