An unusual signing for me, with yet another huge price tag. Don't think we needed him and certainly not at that exorbitant rate. Still, hope it all works out.
Delighted with this signing. He always has a blinder against us, and he has performed well in the PL for Reading. Bit strange with Green having just signed a new deal, but McCarthy is our long term goalkeeper for sure.
I was just thinking that myself. Just need someone else to get the tactics board off him. (Cue Glen.)
In fairness that is not what he is being criticised for. But lets not go into that on this thread as there is already a thread about it.
I really rate this one and am impressed with all the signings (despite being concerned about the direction we were heading when Rio was the first). Competition for places and I can honestly see McCarthy being a regular in the England squad in the next couple of years. After all the news today (admittedly rumours mainly) it still feels a bit like marvelling at the elephants as the circus rolls into town. We desperately need a good performance tomorrow... ...and a point or three.
I disagree Swords. Green will need replacing in the not too distant future and this guy was available now. He will initially keep Green sharp and eventually, maybe sooner than we think, replace him. While I was pleased to see Cesar go, I didn't really want to see Murphy on the bench.
