Reports coming out that his contract has been terminated and hes set to join Fiorentina as a free agent.

If this is true aswell as Roberge we must surely have two defenders coming in.

But we've always known those two weren't in the plans, we also know poyet wants 7 defender and we've got 5. The freed up wages is good, but we're in the same position since Aanholt and vergini signed.

The fact that Roberge started against West Brom surely means we'll be signing atleast one centre back. Vergini being able to play cb & rb might mean we don't go for two.

letting the transfer window pass and going into the season with just 6 defenders would be absolute suicide. I'd like 8 defenders but I know I'm not getting 8, Poyet would like 7 which is the absolute bare minimum for me like. Wes and Jones have spent most of their career injured and we don't have a single left footed defender in the squad should Aanholt break his leg against Spurs. To not have seven defenders in by deadline would be total failure which could have catastrophic consequences imo.

Can't imagine Congerton letting Diakite and Roberge go unless we've already got two done deals in the bag waiting to be announced. I expect imminent news on new defenders.

Did we just let him go for free or did he buy out his contract? Seems strange not to get a fee at all, even £1m would help

Is the Alonso deal definitely dead? I would still like him signed up. That would give us excellent choices at left back, I think Alonso could play centre half too. Good on the ball.

    Come back Alonso!!!!!!!

That would be great, but its a long shot, we certainly need to replace Roberge and Diakite if they leave, Big Harrison in the U21's along with Mandron looked OK in the Liverpool game and maybe they could do short term, but I would rather see a couple of top class loans and another big signing before the window closes, just to be on the safe side.
