Good Morning Everyone, It was inevitable, wasn't it??? The only surprise was it took Cellino so long!!! The Hock, and Junior are gone..... But who will take over? Rolando Maran is an early favourite at 4/6, Whilst Steve Clarke has leaped up into second place at 7/2. Here is a quick summary :- Rolando Maran 4/6 Steve Clarke 7/2 Benito Carbone 7/1 Neil Redfearn 10/1 Gary McAllister 10/1 Oscar Garcia 11/1 Tony Pullis 20/1 Redfearn will take care of first team duties for the near future, and would suspect that Neil Sullivan will look after the academy kids. Adryan is set to sign today on a season long loan, will a fee of 3m being agreed, should he impress. Next player to sign is likely to be Paraguaian winger / striker Brian Montenegro. The 21 year old had a season long long back in 2011/12 with West Ham. It will be interesting to see whether Alex Mowatt will return to the squad now that Redders is back? We also cannot forget about Dawson, who impressed during pre season.
good morning and it is a good morning for me i would like either garry mac or larry but the old adage of never going back seems to always come true so maybe carbone, he knows english/italian football and players he did fine with the kids he could be the one but whoever it is i will be behind him cheers CHRIS
Mornig Elland. Never heard of Rolando Maran. So no view on his suitability. Clarke would be a good option. On Mowatt, he was injured, but I think he should at least get a place on the bench. I would imagine that after Murphy has served his 1 match ban, he should sit on the sidelines for quite a while so he understands the signficance of his stupidity. No idea what's going to happen next. But if I was Bolton fan, I'd be worried I think a lot of players are playing for their futures
Morning all. No views on next manager as hell likely be short term after fans launch a campaign next week to get him out. Would like to see new faces tomorrow in squad though and radical change in tactics. Wishful thinking
Good morning to Matt and co from a hazy Core de Bardsey Missed all the action yesterday as I took my grandchildren to Brid and Scarboro ending up chasing the sun but the fish and chips were excellent at the 149 in Brid Well the inevitable happened Dave was I think taken out of his misery lets hope Cellino has learned from his mistakes and appoints someone who can at least stand up to him I don't suggest paying the earth but give them a £1m bonus if we get promotion I am pleased that Matt says we are after a winger at last I think we all said that from the beginning Warnock has been appointed manager again lets hope he takes the crap he got with him I bet his first signing will be Kenny
Morning all, I can't see Rolando Maran being any better than Hockaday, his record is woeful, the rest I am pretty much open minded about and I would take any of them over Hockaday. I believe Redfearn will be left in charge for a while, if we do well in our next three games I would not be surprised to see him keep the job. The most interesting thing on Saturday will be our formation, I am hoping we do not line up 4-3-3, if we do then surely it means Cellino is having a bigger say on tactics and formation than is healthy? I am away on holiday for 10 days from this evening, Cyrpus here I come.
Morning elland and the gang ... well, the sun is shining brightly today, the birds sound louder, everything feels just that much better ... I feel very sorry for Hock because we all know he should never have taken the job in the first place, but at least he'll be banking a fat cheque to ease his pain ... personally I'd like to see Steve Clarke (if he'd consider the job), a highly respected coach with good connections, and someone who would be a real steadying influence on the squad ... I jumped the gun yesterday and added Adryan and Montenegro to the Squad Depth Chart, so they better sign and quickly ... we have talent in our squad, and I expect us to really take it to Bolton tomorrow ... Forza Leeds!!
I just couldn't take to the guy however I did find myself feeling sorry for him against Bradford. At the end of the day he has a family, home, mortgage and dreams for nicer things, hearing the "You're getting sacked in the morning" chants can't be nice. Other managers walk into another well paid job, Hockaday won't, it was his big chance and he blew it like so many of us expected he would. He was totally out of his depth but he must feel pretty fed-up this morning. I am glad he has gone but he should not have been appointed in the first place. In an apartment in Protaras, there will be plenty of beer in the fridge
Morning all Normal match day threading will be resumed today, maybe even with a slightly more optimistic spin on it now! Hockaday should never have been appointed in the first place, and I'm glad that Cellinos experiment with him is over. It will be interesting to see whether Redfearn gets a couple of games to show whether he is more tactically suitable, though with the international break looming that does give Cellino a long time to have a good think about replacements. Steve Clarke would be a good option, though I'm not sure he'd have that much interest in coming in to be a coach, unless Cellino softens his stance on that (not likely!)
lovely ristac, enjoy the beers and sunshine ... good post on Hock, and as you say he won't be walking into a million bucks a year job anytime soon ... on Redders, he has a good, steady job he loves doing, and has always said he's not interested in the step up, and who can blame him
Nothing against redfearn but I don't recall us playing instant champagne football under him in the past. I hope everyone's confidence that everything was hock's fault etc is proven to be true, and that this talent laden squad will suddenly show its true colours. Bolton have had a poor start, so no better chance to show it. Whoever comes in, if its done quick (my guess would be given the sudden change of mind that a choice has already been made) will have a couple of weeks of international break to try and make their mark. They also will have a fuller squad to choose from than the hock ever did. Never a dull moment.
Think most of us would be happy with Clarke, but would you come if you were him? Not without a change of stance on salary and redundancy from MC.
W2 D0 L4 in his two spells as caretaker, according to Soccerbase. Which is the same record as Dave Hockaday in his six matches, although defeats were by the odd goal. Wikipedia suggests only five games, omitting the defeat at Charlton on 6th April 2013. Good on him though, for taking on a thankless task.
I bet you have packed ur brolly and rain coat haven't you? Surprised you fly anywhere given you propensity for doom and gloom..
