Interesting to hear some people saying Cellino should never have bought Leeds because he will ruin us. Based on the Hockaday appointment you may well think that's right, but at least he has taken steps to rectify his mistake, no make that his massive blunder. Cellino will work out okay for us, and a darn sight better than Bates and GFH ... the one big plus is that Cellino has to be in the Prem, he sees that as his right, and in Leeds he feels he finally owns a club that can compete at the top level when he gets there ... with Cagliari they were a club unable to challenge in Serie A, pretty much like a Stoke City and West Brom, happy to just be in the division season after season with the odd big upset result to shout about. With Leeds Cellino will see himself as more than capable of rubbing shoulders with the Chairmen of the top clubs in the Prem, being able to look them in the eye and say, "We're here for the win today." Cellino knows one thing for sure, with Leeds he owns a global brand, a club with a massive, loyal support base, and more importantly a club with a proud history and reputation in the game. This equates to giving him real pulling power when it comes to attracting personnel to the club, and as such I would expect his transfer policy to change when he gets to the Prem. He will know what it takes to be competitive at that level, and this is probably the main reason he is pushing so hard to make the club debt free and to buy back Elland Road. He wants a steady ship, ready to launch in the Prem with no anchors holding him back. Cellino has definitely stepped up to the plate in the transfer market so far, and has shown a willingness to spend money. The loan signings, if they come good and stay, will cost millions in transfer fees. A few million has already been invested so far this season. All Cellino needs now is the right man in the dugout to take this group of players forward, because our squad is better than most in this division. None of the teams we've faced so far have been stellar by any stretch of the imagination, and with the right selections and formation I'd even go so far as to say we may well have won all our games. Everyone could see where the problem lay, and now that Cellino has started to fix it, we should start seeing these players of ours producing the kind of performances we crave at Elland Road. Step forward our next coach, your time to become a Legend is now. Forza i Bianchi Possenti
Well he said he should sack himself for not buying enough decent players. So if messi doesn't come in before the deadline, then the cellino out campaign should begin in earnest. Let's see if he changes tack on his approach to coaches. Problem is, even if he wants to, how does he convince anyone that he's turned over a new leaf? The only thing he can do is stick huge compensation into the contract. Just doesn't seem his style. Given his track record, how he's treated mcd and now the hock, who is going to come? Someone out of work with no other other options? Someone from the lower leagues who is prepared to take a chance on a high profile job, regardless of the risks? A skint out of work foreign coach? Someone as equally deranged as cellino? I genuinely don't know how talent laden that pool is, and I certainly hope he finds someone from within it who's up to the task, but really, how confident is anyone?
I don't think it's going to be easy to get the Championship-ready coach that everybody assumed would come in when Hockaday was sacked. Some might say it couldn't be worse than Hockaday and Lewis. We know by now that it can always get worse, so let's hope Cellino can work some magic. This is a hard league to get out of. The priority at the moment is to stay in it.
If he's learned from the appointment of the Hock and the fact that it didn't work out, maybe he'll learn to leave deciding which players to bring in should be left to Managers ans scouts. I think although they don't have much if any Championship experience, we do have a squad in the making. All we need is a decent Manager to mould the players we've got into a decent unit. Let's hope that whoever comes in is given the time to make a positive difference.
For anyone wanting Cellino out, remember he's the owner and someone would have to buy him out. Aint gonna happen as nobody stepped up to the plate any of the previous times we could have been bought. So get used to him chaps, he owns the club and deserves to as he put his money where his mouth was
Anyone wanting Cellino out is a pr--k,fans forced Hock out not Cellino with the abuse ect that put pressure on Cellino to act.Despite the fact we have been losing much better displays than at millwall first game.Sort the discipline and the results will come.
Cellino will get things right because he has the passion to do it He knows he made a mistake but quickly rectified it I think he will go for an established coach this time
It's Cellino's fault that he bought lots of players that are not good enough for this league - not even remotely. Whoever the new bloke is, he has a massive job on his hands to keep you in this division as he won't be able to buy the 6/7 Championship standard players that you need till January. Trouble is, if Cellino lets him buy these players to give you a chance of survival, you'll have a squad of 50 players
TC who says all these new players aren't up to championship level? It will take time for all these Italians to get used to the Championship. It will also require a settled team and a Manager who is better than the Hock.
