Can't be bothered to look through the entire thread, but I think we should be proud, he's in the squad off the back of his performances at Sunderland not his 2 games at Newcastle.
Also he and Henderson are 2 safc academy players, players our club have nurtured into England players.

    Agree with this..

The way I see it is the lad did put in some good performances for us but if he had still been at Safc, then I doubt he would have started the first two matches and would have probably got a game last night..<ok>

This does highlight the previous malaise at the heart of the club however, we have in the past been run by absolute beginners and it is only now that the club has appointed a manager worth his salt that we can look forward with optimism. Not only have we developed two potential England internationals in midfield and lost them both, the top brass wanted to give Catts to Stoke six months ago. It was only on the Managers behest that Short vetoed the move as far as I can gather, l am not Catts greatest fan, like Brown with time on the ball he becomes vulnerable in tight situations, but with Brown and O'Shea, and hopefully Vergini and Virgil at the club a player like Catts, a DM par exellance, is indispensable. And thanks Terry for your explanation of a DM and HM it was very clear, and spot on.

This selection says more about England right now than it does about Colback. Good luck to Jack, but in reality, this is the worst England squad I have seen in over 45 years watching our national side.

Face it you are not a fashionable club so your players won't get picked.

Stuff it. I stopped caring about the England "Big Club" squad ages ago......

Bloody hell he has been anonymous for the scum and gets picked for England.
He has had some brilliant games for us and not a look in.

Without reading the rest of the thread... Total ****ing bullshit. :)

I saw a stat earlier where Colback has 4 goals and 3 assists in 120 Prem games. No wonder we're happy to let him go for free.

Whereas Rodwell (SO OBVIOUSLY a better talent) scored against a full-strength Man Utd on his home debut, and Catts was MOM.

    Total ****ing nonsense.

Sorry Rodwell, Johnson & Catts, it doesn't matter how in form you are, how talented you are, how many caps you have for Engalnd or at what level, or how well you play, or how many goals you score against ManU, or how many times you're man of the match (awarded by an ex ManU player!); it seems that averge skunk journeymen are always going to be ahead of you in the England pecking order...

I'm absolutely fuming about the injustice of it all!

Oh well, at least our players can't get injured on England duty or have their confidence shot by being thrashed...

Its football, its all about opinions, the manager decides who to pick and who to play. I am more annoyed with the way Colback was allowed to leave. Colback is a steady performer with a lot to offer, I'm afraid the Mags have put one over on us this time.

He's been subbed on the 60 minute mark in both your games because he's absolutely gassed out on both occasions. He's had so little football in the last two years it'll take him another three months to get match fit.

At that point you might then have a valid claim for him to make the England squad but right now he's miles off purely based on fitness.

This is true! I'd have been flabbergasted if Rodwell was picked! Colback deserves a call up far more than him! Colback has been playing quietly consistently for months now! Without really thinking about it I'd have thought others would have been ahead of Colback in the queue! But in reality there are very few decent players about, which is an absolute shocker as far as England are concerned! I honestly believe that if all the worlds national sides played a full season where they played each other twice, home and away, we would struggle to get in the top 25-30!

Hemel heskey next !, most likely WHU will sign Whickham and he will playing the Swiss next week ! does Hodgson go the SOL ? Rodwell is a hell of a better player than Colback, wait till Rod settles in and you will see him go, like Gomez.
