....according to Monk that is. In today's 'Evening Post' he clearly states that we want to secure a left-back and a right-winger before transfer deadline day. Interestingly he also states that he sees his squad as 22 senior pros (2 players for every position) supplemented by some youngsters.....which is exactly how Laudrup saw things also. So what will our final squad look like? Something like this... Monk's Current First Team Squad 1) Łukasz Fabiański (GK....29-30yrs old) 2) Angel Rangel (RB....31-32yrs old) 3) Neil Taylor (LB....25-26yrs old) 4) Federico Fernandez (CB....25-26yrs old) 5) Ashley Williams (CB....30-31yrs old) 6) Leon Britton (DM....31-32yrs old) 7) Nathan Dyer (RW....26-27yrs old) 8) Jonjo Shelvey (CM/AM....22-23yrs old) 9) Wilfried Bony (ST....25-26yrs old) 10) Gylfi Sigurdsson (AM....25-26yrs old) 11) Wayne Routledge (LW, RW, AM....29-30yrs old) 12) Dwight Tiendalli (RB/LB....28-29yrs old) 13) NEW SIGNING 14) Jordi Amat (CB....22-23yrs old) 15) Kyle Bartley (CB....23-24yrs old) 16) Jazz Richards (RB, LB, DM....23-24yrs old) ??? 17) NEW SIGNING 18) Ki Seung-Yeung (CM/AM....25-26yrs old) 19) Bafetimbi Gomis (ST....29-30yrs old) 20) Marvin Emnes (ST/AM/WG....26-27yrs old) 21) Jefferson Montero (LW, RW, AM, ST....25-26yrs old) - £4m 22) Gerhard Tremmel (GK....35-36yrs old) "Young players" (Not all qualify as U-21s) 23) Stephen Kingsley (LB....20-21yrs old) 24) Jay Fulton (CM....20-21yrs old) 25) David Cornell (GK....23-24yrs old) 26) Tom Carroll (CM....22-23yrs old) - Had to put him in here as Jazz is older and has had game time this year....but maybe Monk still considers Jazz to belong in this group? 27) Mouda Barrow (RW, LW, ST....21-22yrs old) 28) Josh Sheehan (CM...19-20yrs old) 29) Rory Donnelly (ST....22-23yrs old) 30) Adam King (CM....18-19yrs old) 31) Alex Bray (WG....19-20yrs old) Surplus senior players; 32) Alan Tate (CB, RB, LB, DM, GK....31-32yrs old) 33) Curtis Obeng (RB....25-26yrs old) 34) Lee Lucas (CM....22-23yrs old) 35) Rory Donnelly (ST....22-23yrs old) 36) Jose Canas - Will be shocked if he hasn't left by Tuesday morning
Swansea sign Cyprus Under-21 international James Demetriou, 19, on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest
Probably one for the Development Squad, with Barrow. We're leaving it pretty close to deadline day to sign a winger and a left back. It seems as if nobody has any idea who these players are, even the Press. Timothee looks as if he's going to Sevilla,so that's the speculated left back out of the reckoning. Could they be loan deals?
So Bony's still here. That's good news, as Huw usually switches his mobile off for the last day or two of the transfer window.
We have to register a 25 man senior squad, which must consist of all senior players on our books up to 25 in number. So Carroll would have to be on that since you list him as over age. We also have seniors lower down on your list - Cornell, Donnelly, Tate, Obeng, Canas etc. that similarly would be listed in the 25 to fill up the squad or released. The U-21 do not have to be named on the squad of seniors and just because a senior is in the 25 squad doesn't mean he is under consideration - e.g. Canas.
Our squad there in that list of yours Terror already looks good to me, and if Monk can get those two other transfers done before deadline day then I think we could be in for a very positive season, our start is not to be sniffed at, and hopefully we will get more fluid as the games progress, my only worry is midfield and shelvey, I wish the boy would stop being so erratic with his passing, hope monk gives him extra training on his short passing technique!................
So good we can´t give him away Terror says "In today's 'Evening Post' he (Monk) clearly states that we want to secure a left-back and a right-winger before transfer deadline day." I think the key word there terror is want, he did not say we will did he. Just thought I´d make the distinction to save you the effort of starting a thread slagging Monk off on Monday
