Catts history and reputation preceeds him, no matter how hard he tries and keeps improving all the time, it will be a long time that his bad reputation is forgotten. The much better player of the two, plus it seems the writer of the article should never be allowed to have any of his work put in print. I nearly gave up at that point, but he did have one or two valid points, however his article did contain the word 'clattermole'. so for these instances i will give the aurgors of the article 2/10.
Sorry Rodwell, Johnson & Catts, it doesn't matter how in form you are, how talented you are, how many caps you have for Engalnd or at what level, or how well you play, or how many goals you score against ManU, or how many times you're man of the match (awarded by an ex ManU player!); it seems that averge skunk journeymen are always going to be ahead of you in the England pecking order...
Decent article. He says som ething similar to what I said in the other ginga twat callup thread re England "For most of the last decade, and certainly stretching back to the previous World Cup in South Africa, England’s key weakness has been at the heart of their central defence and the base of their midfield." Hence the need for Catts and Shawcross in this squad to steel it up, with no little quality.
This is why hodgson will never make it as a England manager, How exciting was his team in the World Cup proves it.
If you look at the squad, it looks like Hodgson just doesnt want to use a defensive midfielder. There is nobody in his squad who can fill that role. I would like to think that if Hodgson did want to play a DM then Catts would get a look in, competing with Scott Parker for a position.
I'm sorry but I couldn't give a **** about the England team at all. I gave up after the 2010 world cup not one of the players in south Africa gave a ****. All the fans paid a fortune to go and watch that shower of ****. it does not matter who the manager is the same 5-6 players get picked all the time the only reason Delph & Colback got picked is Gerrard & Lampard have retired. Colback played well the back end of last season. Catts has played well since last Feb. If he is picking players on form Wickham should be in squad as should Huddlestone
Exactly right & to make a man captain who publicly slagged off fans on camera is a pish decision imho.
Good to know I'm not alone in thinking that Catts is due / will get an England call-up. Said so weeks ago. What's the smiley for "told-you-so?"
I do not mind Collback getting a crack at England, regardless what Pardew says it has more to do with his performances with us as his 3 games at Newcastle, to say anything else just fits straight in with the deluded pysche blueprint of that club. If it hadn't been a world cup season I dare say he would have figured in the England friendlies whilst at Sunderland. The Ginger Pirlo nickname is putting a tag around his neck he may find hard to carry, he is a good honest pro who gives 100% every game, to suggest he consistently plays defence splitting passes like Pirlo is simply untrue and he may struggle to live up to that type of billing at Newcastle, let alone England. Good luck to the lad, he is living the dream.
I used to like Jack, but let's be honest here. He averaged 3-4 goals a season, wasn't particularly good in the tackle and hardly ever played any long passes. His good points were keeping possession and his versatility at being able to play left back. To call him "The Ginger Pirlo", confirms to me that Hodgson is a senile auld tw@t!!
I have no qualms about Colback playing for England. Good luck to the lad. What does annoy me is a) that it has anything to do with Newcastle (3 ordinary games ffs) b) The Pirlo remark is right through stupidity and out the other side. If Hodgson really has taken notice of that then he`s a bigger idiot than I thought. And that`s going some.
He actually has only scored 4 PL goals for us in total - most of those came last season. By no means prolific!
