And in other news, Colin is rumoured to be interested in Bassong for Palace: http://talksport.com/football/new-palace-boss-warnock-weighing-move-norwich-defender-140828110535?
And moving right along, an Arsenal blog has us linked with Miquel, their left-sided CB who was on loan at Leicester. As he's in the final year of his contract, it's thought to be a permanent deal. Sounds good if true. Now also in the Daily Fail so it must be true! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
really don't see the point in signing miquel - he is awful - i know he'd only be back up but we might as well use mcfadden as back up if we are solely looking for a reserve. he's no worse than the arsenal lad.
Sorry Supers, I normally agree with most of your input, but how can you come to this conclusion? How many times have you seen him play? Was he injured when you did see him? We have a scouting system to identify possible recruits, and obviously Miquel is on their radar.
Colin has to be in panic-buy mode and might well be tempted and 'arry might not have put his cheque book away either. What is the phrase about fools and their money? We certainly need to off-load Bassong more than anyone else.
Shame it's gone the way it has but Palace taking Bassong would suit all parties; we move him off our books and Palace get one stellar season out of him before...oo la la, je suis desolee kicks in again.
He has a good pedigree winning the U19 European championships for Spain in 2011 playing every minute of the tournament ,not sure how many games he got for Leicester but they won the League last year i wouldn't write off a 21 year old Spanish international . Something about him niggles Supers but i'm not sure what he's basing that on.
This clears it up: http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spor...wants_to_recruit_vadis_odjidja_ofoe_1_3748469
seen him plenty of times thanks and he's pants. find me an arsenal fan who thinks he's any good and i'll find you a real life unicorn. i think our other signings have all been very good but this one is a mistake, assuming it happens
Where are those unicorns Supers ?http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-miquel-can-be-a-top-level-player
what does wenger know! to be fair, he was highly regarded in 2011 (when that article was written) having come through the barca system but honestly, watch him - he is garbage. can't head the ball, can't tackle, can't read the game. avoid.
For free he would be worth a gamble but £1.5m ? That doesn't sound very good value for money when Bassong is being touted at £2m .
shocking value if true. as you say, on a free or loan i suppose there's no harm in giving him a go as he'd only be backup anyway but he's not worth any money at all, he really isn't. arsenal must be pissing themselves and shoving him out of the door at that price!
I haven't seen Miquel play that often, but he's hardly had a run of games to show what he can do. At 21, he's a 'spring chicken' in CB terms, but he's reached an age where he'd have to be counted in Arsenal's 25 man squad, which means he has to be a regular player in the PL or CL or move on. It was similar for Ruddy when he left Everton (and there were those who dismissed him as rubbish after he arrived at CR). This transfer window has impressed me, and I don't for a minute think that Miquel is going to be signed in a knee jerk reaction. There were those, Supers included, who said that Adams would be a complete disaster, but there's little evidence of that so far.
Sorry to jump on the bandwagon but Supers also mentioned that Felix Magath was the best manager in the Championship ....
hey? no i didn't! i was surprised when someone said magath was a terrible manager. i tend to find terrible managers don't win championships and manage massive clubs across europe very often.
again, totally untrue. miquel has played numerous games at youth and reserve level and i must have seen him play 10+ times and not once has he impressed, in fact the total opposite. the lad may have the right pedigree but he hasn't got the ability. sorry, but i'm extremely surprised we've been linked to him and don't want him here as it would be a waste of decent money. as for adams, i never said adams would be anything, i 'feared' he would be a disaster (he still might be of course, we don't know) because he doesn't strike me as a manager and most importantly i felt there were other options available to the club which would have made more sense. so far, so good - long way to go as yet - hopefully he can continue to grow into the position. but please stop making s**t up to suit agendas
I have to say that what has become abundantly apparent is that there were fewer other options to Adams than I realised. My impression is that the board also feared Adams wasn't quite the all singing all dancing classical football manager either. That's exactly why they reformed the management. A lot of power that Hughton had is quite evidently out of Adams' hands. So far it seems to be working very well. Early days, as we all know, and he definitely remains a big risk, but it seems the board have assessed Adams' particular talents very well.
