I don't believe Colback has been picked cos of who he plays for! He's been picked due to his decent form at the end of last season, his first 2 games this season, injuries to other England players and lack of strength in depth! Even if he was still at Sunderland I suspect he would have been picked! Due to injuries I feel that he is probably next in line, which is a very sad state of affairs regarding the quality of the national side!

Well Hodgson said he played well last season so that could be true but the other three have been picked because of who they play for.(Arsenal, Spurs and Man city)

Wickham is at the end of the season <whistle> Cattermole/Johnson 2016 but will just agitate for a move and force their hand. Allegedly.

I'd take Johnson and Wickham as back-ups. Cattermole's not getting a call-up even if every England midfielder on Earth gets food poisoning <ok>

Bizarre call up but glad to see that the North East teams' players can actually be considered for international duty.

Good luck to the lad, hopefully he grabs the chance with both hands.

Twitter's fcking hilarious with this at the moment. Can't believe the number of mackems who've been caught tweeting "why's Colback overlooked" when in red and white, followed by "why the ginger minge over Cattermole" about 4 months later.

I just think he'll make a substitute appearance or two if it doesn't work and won't get back in. No harm done.

Colback is a fantastic prospect. He's young, even tempered, good defensively, and was able to hold his own against the City players.

Not great against Villa, but no one really was.

Clattermole is a reckless twat and I don't give a **** what the mackem ****s say about his so called rehabilitation under Poyet.

If Barton got overlooked when he was in form with us, then so should Cattermole.

Colback is a sensible young lad and the potential is there.

Not bad for a Sunderland sub ehh, I would guess that's the Ginger Pirlo one jack rodwell nil as our bitter cousins keep harping on trying to compare their only key signing to our squad player.

My question would be where is super dupa cattermole their main man

You could not make this up listen to the moaning on about him.... Give it a rest as if he was so crap they would not go on and on and on.

For the record I don't care either way but it is very funny

    Bang on the money.

I'm still bitter about Capello saying he never goes up to the North East to watch players.

Roy has to look at options and how he can engineer some competition for places. Great for us he is giving one of our lads a chance. I said before we signed him he will be decent. More than a squad player. Now is his chance to knuckle down and become an important player for us.
