http://www.thefa.com/news/england/2...quad-announcement-rose-colback-delph-chambers Roy Hodgson has named four newcomers in his first squad of the season, while Andros Townsend returns. Arsenal's 19-year-old summer signing from Southampton, Calum Chambers, receives his first call-up alongside Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback, Aston Villa's Fabian Delph and Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose. England face two games at the start of September to kick-off the new campaign. England v Norway First up next Wednesday is a friendly with Norway at Wembley before Hodgson's men fly to Basel to take on Switzerland in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier. Spurs winger Townsend, who missed the World Cup due to injury, is back in the squad of 22. Everton defender John Stones, a World Cup standby who played in two of the three warm-up games ahead of the trip to Brazil, is also included. The squad in full; Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion), Joe Hart (Manchester City) Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Calum Chambers (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), John Stones (Everton) Midfielders: Jack Colback (Newcastle United), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal) Forwards: Rickie Lambert (Liverpool), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United) ---------------------------------------- Realise International Football is practically dead in the eyes of many an England fan, however what do England manager's have against Sunderland? Colback signs for Newcastle, has 2 average colback games like he did for us but breaks into the England squad...(bearing in mind he is in a squad that has yet to score in 3 games this season...) Jack Rodwell, Connor Wickham, Adam Johnson etc must realise they are never gonna get a game for England whilst playing for us...rather worrying Even Catt's form since January has warranted a possible England shout Funnily enough Merson has just called Colback distinctly average as well...first time i've agreed with him!
I thought he'd looked quite good in the two games I've seen him in, doubt he'll get in the starting 11 and it's nice to see some fresh faces in the team. Cattermole should probably have got the nod as well mind, I'd agree with that. Johnson and Rodwell have done nothing to warrant a spot yet, give them time.
Can't believe Colback & Delph gets pick before players like Cattermole & Huddlestone thats right it is laughable.
1) He won't get into the first 11 2) Niall Quinn was right. He has made a step up to bigger and better things and this call up proves it
Oh i admit Johnson/Rodwell haven't warranted it yet that is their aim, first team football to get possible international games However Terry, the games ive seen him he has been exactly like he was for us, solid and got on with it but nothing special, sideways passing with little to no creativity (see bri's post on his stats...) as Baz says Huddlestone for a start has been in a successful Hull squad for a season and Catts has been on fine form since January, even getting a couple of goals and can also spray the ball whilst doing the gritty work... Just seems an absolute joke However the two upsides are nobody can see how good Catts has become as well as less chance of injury!
Lets be honest, looking at that team, there isn't a single top class (let alone world class) player there. England as a football team is light years even behind teams like USA!!!
Just looking on twitter Stoke fans seem to be kicking off that Ryan Shawcross has been overlooked again And Rooney as captain...for ****s sake
I think the retirement of Lampard and Gerrard has opened the door for CM's and Colback over the two games has looked as good as anything else for me, I know he left you lot in bad taste so I'd not expect you to advocate this decision, he's looked solid. If Lampard and Gerrard hadn't retired, I doubt he'd have got the nod mate. As for Huddlestone, the guy is 20 stone and cannot keep the ball, what's wrong with him? He's a ****ing giant who should boss games yet he never has, he's just got a fizzing shot, which I couldn't care less about. Kids like Barkley (who'd also have been picked ahead of Colback, as would Lallana) run rings around Huddlestone. Cattermole should be getting his shot though.
Natural born winner, best player in the squad. Squad needs to be built around him and not numpty Sturridge, if they have any chance of progress.
I think it's coincidental as it's a changing of the guard for England, he may have got in anyway. It's a sad state of affairs that he's considered as he's the least progressive midfielder in history, but you know what, his ball retention is way better than many that have been called up. I won't say I wish him well like.
The duck song, reminds me of Woy.
****ing amazing. **** off Hodgson, the twats played two decent games for them and he gets called up. Johnson wins player of the month and he ignores him I can't believe this. Cattermole is 100x the player Colback is. Christ
