How much longer can that dinosaur Geraghty continue in this culture role? He is supposed to be organising such events as part of his job remit. Had it been eggchasing, darts, table tennis, or any sport but football, he would had been all over it like a rash. Lets face it, Geraghty and his cohorts hate football and Hull City with a passion. It must really stick in their throats, the fact that Hull City are successful and generating so much positive publicity for the city of Hull. These political non-entities would rather Hull remain a dirty, crime ridden backwater, so they can continue to run their corrupt set up.
If the city of Hull is to raise its game, then the likes of Geraghty need to be put out to grass. I realise that Mr Allam might not always be the easiest person to deal with, but I totally understand why he refuses to deal with the godfather of Orchard Park. If we, as a football club and a city, are ever to reach our full potential, then such small minded, spiteful and insular attitudes need to be overcome.

And they are asking East Riding residents to vote to join Hull, it will be like Gibraltar voting to join Spain.

I don't blame the council. Once it's public they have massive on costs like traffic issues, stewards, safety etc...

Private is another matter, and no one has seen an opportunity to have a go. After the mess away, irrespective of blame, you can't really argue with that.

    It is a shame.

Why blame the council - Allam's turned his back on them - he refused the welcome parade - he insulted the council at wembley - Allam just spent millions on a couple of players - surely the **** can spend some money for fans coming to watch his team and paying him money to watch his team - blaming the council is pathetic

Surely the issue here is not one of who pays for what... This is a missed opportunity for the "City of Culture" to leave an impression on c1500 foreign visitors. These visitors will then go home and express their opinions on Twitter, Facebook and forums such as this, this could reach tens of thousands of people. If ony 1 percent of these decide to visit the city as a result the benefits could be exponential.

The Allams may well put on something at the KC/West park in terms of a "fan zone" but will this really leave a positive impression with regards to the City of Hull and all it has to offer?

Massive missed opportunity for the City, if only there was an organisation that was elected by the people to make decisions and take action for the benefit of the city and it's populous....

Charon, anyone with half a brain knows that Allam is a tosser. However, this is more than just about the football. HCC have the chance to showcase the city to 1500 Belgiums who are on our doorstep. It's shortsighted and just whiffs of local politics. I've been to Belgium a few times every year. I've never been to Lockeren before last week. I can't wait to go back with the family.

    HCC - clueless ****ers.

They also have the chance to preside over a potential riot.

Don't be naive enough to think there won't be behind the scenes discussions about risk. It's not as easy as just saying it's a good time to put on a show!

There is still a risk that a mindless minority may hijack anything for some sad revenge episode.

No it will be like West Berlin voting to keep the Berlin Wall up. We need to break down the barriers, a Greater Hull would dilute the powerbase idiots like Geraghty revel in and put more sensible folk from the suburbs in the council chamber who will challenge these insular estate lunatics.

There is. Unfortunately it's the City Council - elected by both those who vote and those who don't vote.

Plus, if I may add, I would doubt this would be the stance from HCC if some minority "sexual preference" group were inviting 1500 of their types over from Europe to the city.

It's all politics. HCC despise the Allams and Hull City generally.

If Cottingham was lumped onto Orchard Park for elections then Geraghty would be out like a shot. He gets voted in now on one of the lowest turnout in country and if there was any decent opposition and he would have to raise his game or retire.
Its his duty to organise events such as this, its what he gets well paid for. This is the man who was bouncing up and down claiming that darts and rugby league was cultural earlier this year. He was on the BBC every day boasting about how much money a dart tournament at City Hall brought into the city. The man is a clown. Dave Burns dragged him over the coals a few weeks back when Hull lost an ice hockey tournament to Sheffield. One which Hull had held for 20 years, in was said it brought £2m into the city. He said knew nothing about it! The bloke pushing the argument said 'yes you did because I emailed you months ago' Terry Geraghty is the most unsuitable man I can think of to be in the role he is currently employed in. He's had a better innings then most and should step aside and give someone else a chance. 100% muppet.

    Extra police...

Extra police officers will be on duty tomorrow ahead of Hull City’s return Europa League tie with Belgian side Lokeren.

But a senior Humberside Police officer says the force will be adopting a “softly softly” approach to policing the event

Around 1,400 Lokeren fans are expected to be at the game at the KC Stadium.

Many are likely to arrive in Hull early tomorrow morning on board ferries from Zeebrugge and Rotterdam.

Chief Superintendent Tony Forbes said violent scenes after last week’s first leg in Lokeren had prompted a re-think over arrangements for tomorrow.

“We are putting more officers on than we originally intended as a result of what happened last week in Belgium but I would stress it is only intended as a safety measure," he said.

“The vast majority of fans enjoyed themselves last week and I see no reason for that to change tomorrow.

“We will be on hand to do everything we can to ensure people have a good time and are safe. We want to encourage people to come to Hull, celebrate and have a great time.”

He also confirmed mounted officers would be among additional resources being made available for the day.

Many travelling City fans have criticised the actions of Belgian police in Lokeren, including the deployment of a water cannon.

But Chief Supt Forbes said he favoured a more informal approach here.

“We will be doing what the British bobby does best, from telling folk what time it is if we are asked to giving people directions if they are wondering how to get to the stadium.”

He said a decision on whether to provide an official escort for Lokeren fans from the city centre to the KC would be made on the day, depending on the situation on the ground.

Geraghtys an absolute shambles. If a national politician said something like he's quoted saying in the HDM today it'd be a scandal but he just says what he wants. He doesn't even try to hide his hatred for football and Hull City, he doesn't have to. I hate HCC so much.

How the hell are people complaining about what the clubs doing? The clubs laying on a football game, at reasonable prices. Organising something in the city is the responsibility of...HCC. You'd think they'd jump at this chance to promote the city, the region, to make some easy money and to increase their profile and not last, to increase their popularity with the people who pay for the ****ers.

Blaming Dr Allam for this is frankly ****ing stupid.

For once, I agree with PLT.

Maybe you may want to reconsider your opinion of "That ****ing Allam needs to just talk to the council the ****ing ****, theres a deal on the table, he's just a pig headed ****" or words to that effect. A time for reflection for you??

    TG's words.

"Councillor Terry Geraghty, the portfolio holder for culture, leisure, events and wellbeing, said: "There are no plans to do anything, as far as I am aware.

"Hull City are going to get a decent gate for the match so I think it should be up to them to do something.

"As it is, the council hasn't got any money."

Not just suspicious but paranoid about a capitalist with money and the thought of him making more. i'm sure theres a deal to be done on the stadium with a **** like that isnt there?

The full article is an embarassing and shameful reflection of this council.
