He could save them until January, we might still have to pay wages and if they're not needed, we can use the two loan spots in Winter instead of having to splash out actual money.

Not to mention that loan spots are much more likely to happen days before if not the day of the transfer window.

This is when teams have or haven't made their signings and no for sure who is surplus to requirements.

I think we're still a striker light and we've not replaced Snodgrass, no reason why we couldn't do a half season loan.

I have a feeling we might try to take Welbeck on loan if he is actually available.

Van Gaal might not see out the season and the next manager might fancy him.
We're not the most fashionable club for a player of the calibre of Welbeck. If he's not going to play at United this season but not allowed to step up to a top club, a loan here could be favourable before weighing up his options next summer when he can and probably will do better.
They're now out of the league cup so opportunities just got even slimmer.
We can't afford to buy him outright anyway even if he would consider it.

I know Brucey said he's not after Welbeck but come deadline day if he's available on a loan it'd be madness not to take him.

I think LVG will see out the season and the next one, regardless of results.

I think we'd be a great prospect for Welbeck, play week-in week-out for a club with clearly a good manager and dressing room atmosphere. He could go about his business and rebuild his reputation. However, I think Everton have this one in the bag by the sounds of Sky/Twitter. Also apparently Spurs had a little look - and Soldado may be leaving.

Totally my guess but: I suspect we did 'nibble' last week but told by his agent he's not interested in us so we didn't take it further.

    I don't dislike you as a poster.

However. You just make stuff up. So many posts of speculative and random thoughts that come in to your head based on fantasy.

Who knows though. If you throw enough mud at a wall your bound to get one right eventually.

True, but it could also be down to nobody fitting the bill. We'd want a young-ish player on the fringes of their first team, but there don't seem to be too many of them knocking about.

Francis Coquelin maybe, as cover for Thudd?

Not wishing to stand in Mr Hat's corner but SkyBet have us second favourites to sign Welbeck at 4-1 behind Everton who are evens after a flurry of bets!

I was thinking more about in case a big hole appears that needs filling in January if clubs are reluctant to sell.

tell you what Pearson was an expert at loan deals, I was always very impressed

Bruce will organise sth - Livermore was top drawer - you get a chance to look at a prospect and then normally have first refusal

Hull City are closing in on the capture of striker Abel Hernandez. The Palermo forward has been in Hull for a medical today ahead of a proposed £10m deal.

    Anyone heard of this fella?

It seems to be true, SB more or less confirmed it in his interview today, but was tight lipped otherwise.

    *cough* Rowan Vine *cough*

Oh, hang on, my throat is much better. Although I forgot to sick up the words Hope Akpan, David Amoo, Peter Gulasi and Martyn Waghorn. What wonderful impacts they had on the side.

He might have made a lot of loan signings, but half of them were utter dross.

This is most probably rubbish but it popped up on my twitter that Robertson started following Barry Bannan today, thought nothing of it with Scotland link and all. Then a bit later it popped up Davies started following him today as well. Do they know something we don't? Could be a Snodgrass replacement *prepares to be shot down*

Meyler and Snodgrass follow him too.

That does seem a bit weird to be fair.

Though he did only join twitter 13 days ago.
