Now this may be bullshit but it's what I've heard. He feels he has been badly treated by the club and they have not offered him a contract at all. They have said they will give him £42,000 a week but have as yet offered him nothing. The last straw apparently was Gus telling him he'd better sign. Apparently he has had talks with West ham, QPR and Palace. the club apparently were ready to accept £5 million for him with £3 million add ons. This was quashed by Ellis short who rates Wickham as he saved us last year, wants at least 12 million for him. So Wickham will not sign for us even if offered £72,000 a week. He will play out his time to the best of his ability. He will apparently go to Valencia when his contract ends as they only have to pay £250,000 compensation as they are a foreign club and then they will loan him to West Ham. Don't shoot the messenger. This is what I was told by my mate who knows wickham's dad. Like I say, could be bullshit and could be bravado . If true it shows how awful football dealing are.
tbf our track record regarding players contracts don't seem to be that great recently considering the Colback debacle, the ongoing Borini saga, the current DiCanio players that are going out the door and the daft signing of Graham
Let him go, he back to having zero influence on games again this season. Displayed terrible shooting ability and does very little if anything with the ball in the last 2 games.
hes been playing out of position to accomadate fletch and some people are slating him for it. plus its only 2 games in have a word with yourself
It all sounds plausible to me like. Can I just repeat what my stance has been all summer, I'm not buying the 45 game run as him suddenly being some kind of star. What will be will be with the lad for me, he hasn't exactly looked likely to sustain it this season, I'll admit he's been out of position. I'd sooner we got the money in for him like, obviously. I'm sure Hull would give us our money back for the lad.
If thats the case i can see him being off loaded probs on deadline day and we will be scrambling around behind the scenes looking for a replacement. We cant have someone playing week in week out for us who doesnt want to be here. I really think we could use the money towards Wellbeck. The only worry for me tho is that i cant see Fletcher or Jozy scoring 10 between them!
I think we'll bring in Kalou and one more, I'm quite alright with it. You know who I really ****ing like, Weimann at Villa. I reckon he'd be class for us.
i definatly think it would be a mistake to sell him. young english players bring a premium and if he moves and does well and gets 10+ goals this season his value will skyrocket. theres no way we should be looking to sell when other than a few games at the end of last season he has never been given a fair crack at it. i would be pissed if i had been **** on by 3 succesive managers as well
**** him off with the kids for 12 months lets see who wants to pay him top dollar then. 12 months is a long time in football with no game time. Annoys me this does trying to hold us to ransom. Were bigger than any 1 player. Would love Welbeck back myself, I am sure there is a deal to be done there. Or even Henandez.
I couldn't give a toss, I don't rate him half as much as some do, he's got potential but potential is ten a penny. I'd sell every striker we've got. The down side is having him on the wage bill for a full season if true.
he pretty much kept us up last season and i cant belive some fans are this fickle to slate him after 2 games
Sorry missed out: If its true we should....... I have an ITK source at westham, I might try doing some digging.
I just think he's not worth getting upset about, I'd rather get some money for him a get a striker with a decent goal scoring record at this level . . . . . like Kalou.
But if he doesn't sign, even if he scores 20 we'd get the same, about £6million for him. He's flavour of the month with many, and it's just no justified. He had a handful of decent games in 4 years. I'm not having the 'not given a chance' thing either, every time he played he was ****, and he was out on the piss midweek.
Even with Wickham we are poor up front. We must have the worst attack in the prem imho. We need to shake it up and quick...it's gone on long enough with Wickham and it needs sorting one way or the other in the next couple of days but it looks like we are just going to keep him and try and persuade him to sign a contract before january and if he doesnt will probs end up getting 3 or 4m in the next window...
he never got a run of games under bruce, mon or di canio. i dont think you can judge him from a few bit part appeaences. he did the business for us when we needed it and i feel that merits him the chance to have a run of games to show if he can do it consistantly. if he cant then shift him in january and we will still get the same sort of money for him as we would now
