Arsenal In For QPR Striker Loic Remy After Giroud Injury by Patrick Williamson August 26th, 2014 Wenger turns to France international after Giroud injury. Read more Arsenal transfer news. Arsenal could be set to make a move to sign France international striker Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers, report the Mail, following the news that Olivier Giroud could be ruled out for three months with a broken foot sustained in the 2-2 draw with Everton at the weekend. Remy also moved to Lierpool earlier this summer before the prospective transfer fell through at the 11th hour for undisclosed reasons, potentially an issue with the medical, although that doesnât seem to be stopping Arsene Wenger from making a move for the former Marseille forward. It had seemed as though Arsene Wenger would refrain from buying a new centre forward during this transfer window, due to the emergence of young duo Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell, but the news that Giroud could be ruled out for some time may have forced a change in his thinking. Wenger deployed big-money new signing Alexis Sanchez in a false nine position during the weekendâs draw at Everton, but the Chilean toiled before Giroud was introduced, tipping the balance of the match in Arsenalâs favour and heading home a crucial late equaliser for the Gunners as they continued their unbeaten to the start of the season before a crucial Champions League tie against Besiktas.
Not what we needed to hear. We won't get a striker of his quality for the same money. Worst timing possible with just seven days of the window to go.
This is just conjecture from the journalist. There is no source. He is just hypothasising as we all are after the Giroud injury. It may happen but the article does not appear to have been written with any more knowledge than me or you.
After reading Clive's report on the Spurs massacre and how he has behaved like a puppy straining to free himself from the leash of QPR I would agree entirely. Yes he is a very talented striker but he doesn't want to play for us and I'm at ghe stage now where I hope he goes. He played well for us for the half season when he first came but after that he was no longer interested and will be a drag on his teammates. He should arise and go now.
He's not a like for like replacement for Giroud. I'd be happy to get Joel Campbell and some cash in return anyway. But Remy is our only class player (now Ferdinand is getting on)- the only one a top 7 team would be interested in. Give him the service he'll score goals.
Against Spurs he was beaten to the ball more often than not. His trademark fast turn/twist when on the ball inevitably ends up with him rolling in the ground with a hand in the air claiming for a free kick which is never awarded. Against Spurs he was muscled off the ball almost every time he had it. He looks weak. He was all but absent against Hull as far as I could make out, and yes I was at that game. His whole demeanour on the pitch seems to suggest he does not want to be wearing hoops, reminiscent of Bosingwa to me. I'd be delighted for him to prove me wrong, but I think he wants to go to work every day to a far nicer facility and environment than our little club in W12.
The team should be training at HQ today, let's get down there quick and kidnapp Remy!!! Who's with me?
But seriously, it does have me worried, but Arsenal need more than just Giroud and yet they haven't made a bid for Remy. He seems like a shoe in at Arsenal under Wegner and yet nothing? So I'm hoping that there's a reason he doesn't want Remy, here's hoping anyway.
Wenger just said Podolski is not leaving and Giroud's injury might not be as bad as it looked.. Remi will score goals when he becomes match fit so I hope this week passes without him going..
The guy is hardly busting a gut to leave unlike Taarabt, yes he wants champions league football, every footballer does and every footballer would leave to play for a team in the competition. Also don't forget he is at least 2 weeks behind everyone else in terms of fitness. If he stays he will play to the best of his ability, it's the only way he will get a champions league team to make a bid for him. Make no mistake, we should be doing everything we can to keep him because we wouldn't get another striker of his quality for less than 20 million, probably more than that when you consider the money Man U want for Welbeck.
That would leave us with: - Bobby Zamora who can cope with 20-30minutes at best(and hasn't got a reputation s the most prolific of strikers) - Austin who failed a medical at Hull spent 3 months injured last year and was injured last Sunday - Then Vargas, brand knew to the league, doesn't speak the language, no idea how he'll settle or how long it will take him to settle in the country or to the league. Also he hasn't got a very good goal scoring record at club level So if Remy goes we have 2 and a half strikers (Bobby is onlya half) and you need 4 strikers in the prem
Well after being at the game on Sunday watching him completely isolated as the Spurs team pinged the ball around him always with at least 2 unmarked alternatives to pass to because Harry had ballsed up his tactics so much it is no wonder he became disheartened. Your completely wrong if you think it was some sort of vain protest Think about it. He doesn't need to protest- he has a release clause which is well below his actual true market value. His best way of getting out of the club would be to play well and encourage a team like Arsenal to pay the money for him He had no hope on Sunday because Harry got it wrong. He wasn't at all suited to the role and was entirely isolated and eventually understandably became fed up of chasing around with no hope of getting the ball
