Has handed his notice in to England.

Maybe that useless turd that is in charge of the English national side will actually scout others or will he do the usual of just looking at who plays for the top 6.

    He's retired from international duty?

Thank **** for that, Woy was apparently considering recalling him for the next set of England games, the inept prick.

Still no chance of him picking players outside of the top 7 though. He'll just play Cleverley instead.

Lampard is also pretty much the reason Scholes retired from England duty. (obviously Sven also didn't help)

    Good riddance.

Has Cleverley joined a top 7 side like HCAFC, then?

The problem with England managers recently is that they have let the top PL clubs managers indirectly pick the England squad.

Prime examples are Smalling and Cleverley.

    And Glenn Johnson.....

Frank Lampard has been an excellent player for England. 106 caps and 29 goals. In an era when many don't want to play for their country, he goes into retirement with much credit.

If only his "goal" at the 2010 WC had been allowed.

    Well done Frank.

I just tried to pick a squad from the current top 7. Struggling for keepers and strikers!

    Hart, Wright, Harper

Walker, Chambers, Gibbs, Rose, Cahill, Dawson, Davies, Richards

Oxlade, Wilshere, Lennon, Townsend, Milner, Huddlestone, Livermore, Delph

    Ince, Kane, Agbonlahor, Bent

(Rosenior was very, very close, as were Routledge, Dyer and Shelvey)

This is where you have made a mistake in assuming its the actual top 7 in the league..... Its actually Woys top 7 that will be picked from, thus allowing anyone from ManUre to still get picked on the basis of "must be good if they sometimes play for them".

I have just heard that Woy has been seen at Liverpools training ground "Scweaming and Scweaming until he makes himself sick" when begging his favourite Stevie to come back out of retirement...

They showed an interview were Woy was seriously taking about Fat Frank and Gerrard actually still being picked at 38 years of age in 2 years time.

Thank god the players took the decision out of the clueless idiots hands.

Probably a good decision from Frank. I'm always a bit torn on international retirements (we missed Shearer and Scholes, though they both said it prolonged their club careers) but it is time for a change. I think it's time to drop Jagielka too. He's 32 now, will be 34 for the Euros and didn't look great at the World Cup. Better to go through the next 2 years using players who'll still be in their prime for the finals so they have time to play together, rather than assembling a new squad in 2016. I'd give a team like this a go for the September matches:

    ------------- Hart
    Clyne --- Cahill --- Davies --- Gibbs
    ---- Huddlestone -- Wilshere
    Oxlade ---- Rooney ---- Sterling
    ---------- Sturridge

I'd take Dier with the squad as he looks a great defensive prospect but think Curtis deserves a shot at claiming a place for the Euros. Caulker a prospect for the future too but he was part of an awful defence at Cardiff and now seemingly an awful defence at QPR. Jones will be in the squad and everyone will say he's terrible but I do think he's better than Smalling and hasn't exactly had great defenders to play alongside so far this season.

Some new players should at least get to stake a claim in the Norway friendly, those who've been in form last season and so far this season.

Chambers has just signed for the Arse, he's played two games at CB and made some reet errors. He'll be in the England squad.

The buffoon that is woy is clueless when it comes to picking talent for the national team .. as mentioned if you don't play for one of the bigger teams he doesn't seem interested .. I still suspect he resents us from his time in charge at liverpool over the loan of one of their players think from memory it was the clueless keeper who's name escapes me

I think you may have a point there. Wasn't it Daniel Ayala though who was injured?
